A survey of the ectoparasitic infestations of dogs in Nigeria
Journal of Small Animal Practice, 1975ABSTRACTBetween January and December 1973, a survey of ectoparasitic infections of domestic dogs was carried out at Ibadan. The ectoparasites were detached from dogs brought for treatment at the two veterinary clinics in Ibadan and from those living in the less developed areas of Ibadan.

Anogenital lesions (viral diseases and ectoparasitic infestations): unapproved treatments
Clinics in Dermatology, 2002In terms of improving the quality of life of patients with recurrent genital herpes simplex infection, suppressive antiviral therapy is an effective strategy. Acyclovir is the treatment of choice for herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections. In an Indian study it was stated that acyclovir was not being prescribed because of the high price of the drug ...

A review on the treatment and control of ectoparasite infestations in equids
Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2020Ectoparasites infestations are a growing concern to horse owners and equine veterinarians alike. Ectoparasites cause significant health and welfare issues and can potentially can serve as vectors for a variety of pathogens. The prevalence of ectoparasites increases around the world, and especially in horses information on the successful prevention and ...

Control of ectoparasitic infestation in country goats
Small Ruminant Research, 1990Abstract Goats have great significance in India, where the main breeds are the Jamunapari, Beetal, Barbari and Black Bengal. One of the reasons for their low productivity is parasitic infestation with ticks (predominantly Hyalomma and Boophilus ), mites and lice.

Group-Living and Infestation by Ectoparasites in Passerines [PDF]
Using data from an 1 l-year field study, I determined whether group-living passerine species showed greater infestation by contact-transmitted ectoparasites (feather mites) than sympatric, solitary species. Differences in infestation by mobile hippoboscid flies between group-living and solitary passerine species were also examined. Among the 45 species

Ectoparasite infestation and sex-biased local recruitment of hosts
Nature, 1999Dispersal patterns of organisms are a fundamental aspect of their ecology, modifying the genetic and social structure of local populations. Parasites reduce the reproductive success and survival of hosts and thereby exert selection pressure on host life-history traits, possibly affecting host dispersal.

Cage Design for the Confinement of Deer and Goats Infested with Ectoparasites
The Journal of Parasitology, 1988The design for a cage for the confinement of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) and goats (Capra sp.) for use in ectoparasite studies is presented. The cage was successfully used for the infestation of these hosts with Boophilus annulatus and may be useful for host/parasite studies using similar hosts and other ectoparasites.
