Role of SoxE transcription factors in development and disease
Abstract Sox8, Sox9, and Sox10 arose by multiple rounds of genome duplications from a single SoxE gene in ancestral vertebrates. In this review, we will briefly discuss the molecular structure and function of SoxE transcription factors and their evolutionary origin. We will then discuss their expression, function, and developmental disorders.

Unexpected Promotion of Bone Regeneration by Inhibition of BMPR1A‐Mediated BMP Signalling
BMPR1A downregulation reduces ID1, releases TCF3 to activate GNG4‐PI3K‐AKT signalling, thereby promoting OPC proliferation and bone regeneration. ABSTRACT Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signalling plays a pivotal role in bone regeneration by regulating osteoprogenitor cell (OPC) function, and BMPs have been widely used in clinical treatment. However,

Postoperative Exostosis: Ectopic Ossification After Pericardial Window Procedure
A 58-year-old Hispanic man had persistent epigastric pain after pericardial window procedure for viral pericarditis several years earlier. After review of a computed tomography scan, a calcified epigastric subcutaneous mass was detected. The patient elected to undergo surgical excision of the mass, which revealed a heterotopic ossified lesion arising ...

Intramuscular myxoma with chondroid features: two cases expanding the morphological spectrum
Background Intramuscular myxoma is a benign mesenchymal tumour typically composed of bland spindle to stellate cells in abundant myxoid stroma and usually characterized by GNAS mutations. Chondroid matrix has not been previously reported in intramuscular myxoma.

Ectopic Ossification in the Scar Tissue of Rats with Myocardial Infarction
We describe the occurrence of bone-like formations in the left ventricular wall of infarcted rats treated or not with bone marrow cells injected systemically or locally into the myocardium. The incidence of ectopic calcification in hearts has been reported in rare cases in children with infarcts without previous coronary artery disease.

Bone Grafts: Everything You Need to Know
This review classifies bone grafts (autograft, allograft, xenograft, synthetic) by source and osteogenic/inductive/conductive potential, linking material properties and mechanisms to clinical indications in periodontal and dental regeneration. Key challenges—limited osteoinduction, poor vascularisation, unbalanced resorption, handling difficulties, and

ERK‐Mediated Phosphorylation of YAP Defines a Noncanonical FGF Signaling Mechanism in Stem Cells
With a powerful combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models, the authors highlight a novel FGF‐ERK signaling regulation of YAP at the S128 site in neural crest‐derived stem cells. This study opens exciting new directions in stem cell biology and craniofacial biology, paving the way for potential innovations in the treatment of craniofacial ...

Essential embryology for the Canadian pathologists’ assistant
Abstract Pathologists' assistants (PAs) are pivotal in healthcare, conducting autopsies and examining tissues under a pathologist's guidance. Embryology knowledge is crucial for PAs to accurately assess anomalies and identify pathologies. Yet, it is often overlooked in academic PA training programs.

Strong relationship between dyslipidemia and the ectopic ossification of the spinal ligaments
Abstract Obesity and metabolic disturbances are prevalent in ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) and ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF); however, the involvement of dyslipidemia (DL) in OPLL/OLF remains uncertain. We investigated the association between dyslipidemia and OPLL/OLF using a dataset of 458 individuals
