KH15D: a star eclipsed by a large scale dusty vortex? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We propose that the large photometric variations of KH15D are due to an eclipsing swarm of solid particles trapped in giant gaseous vortex rotating at \~0.2 AU from the star.

FDG PET/CT imaging and circulating biomarkers of inflammation in desmoplakin cardiomyopathy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1485-1489, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Inflammation has been implicated in the pathogenesis of desmoplakin (DSP) cardiomyopathy, and retrospective studies have described abnormal myocardial fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) findings in symptomatic patients eventually diagnosed with DSP cardiomyopathy.

Effectiveness of epidural anesthesia for external cephalic version (ECV) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Perinatology, 2010
The Cochrane review conducted in 2001 re-established the usefulness of external cephalic version (ECV). The success rate for ECV using epidural anesthesia or spinal anesthesia is reported to be 35 to 86%. In this study, we examined the effectiveness of epidural anesthesia for ECV.A retrospective cohort study was conducted of pregnant women who were at ...

External cephalic version outcomes with tocolysis and sedation: A 10‐year retrospective cohort study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of external cephalic version (ECV) performed with tocolysis and sedation or spinal anesthesia, and to identify predictors of ECV success, complications, and delivery outcomes after successful ECV. Methods This 10‐year cohort study included 990 pregnant women with term non‐cephalic presentation

Fear for external cephalic version and depression: predictors of successful external cephalic version for breech presentation at term? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background Objective was to determine whether fear for external cephalic version (ECV) and depression are associated with the success rate of ECV in women with a breech presentation at term.

Free‐Running Three‐Dimensional Cardiac Extracellular Volume Mapping in a Single Scan With Mid‐Scan Contrast Injection

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a new method for free‐running three‐dimensional (3D) extracellular volume mapping of the heart in a single scan with mid‐scan contrast injection. Methods 3D cardiac MR imaging was performed with a single scan that acquired k‐space data continuously using an inversion recovery (IR) sequence with a spoiled gradient‐echo ...

Extracellular Volume Fraction Analysis on Cardiac Computed Tomography Is Useful for Predicting the Prognosis of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
Extracellular volume fraction (ECV) analysis on computed tomography (CT) is now available. The purpose of this study was to assess the usefulness of CT-derived ECV analysis for predicting outcomes in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).

Ultrasound‐based renal growth curves in Chinese children aged 0–14 years

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
Between June 2016 and July 2023, 6033 Chinese children aged 0–14 were recruited from our hospital using renal ultrasound examinations. This study provides comprehensive reference data for renal development in Chinese children aged 0–14 years, highlighting age‐related patterns and strong positive associations with height.
