Plasma EDA2R and Risk of Cardiovascular Diseases and All‐Cause Mortality: Analysis of the UK Biobank Cohort

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
In this large‐scale UK Biobank analysis, elevated plasma EDA2R was associated with a 74% higher risk of cardiovascular disease and a 177% higher risk of all‐cause mortality, with a 7.2‐year loss in life expectancy in the highest EDA2R group, suggesting its potential as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target.

Optimal Surgical Timing and Outcome Prediction in Hemorrhagic Moyamoya Disease: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2026.
This cohort study developed and validated the first prognostic nomogram for hemorrhagic MMD, incorporating five independent predictors including a defined optimal surgical window of 3 to 6 months. The model demonstrated good discrimination and aids in risk stratification for clinical monitoring.

Liquid‐Phase Synthesis of Halide Solid Electrolytes for All‐Solid‐State Batteries Using Organic Solvents

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study develops a scalable and universal liquid‐phase synthesis method of halide solid electrolytes using nitrogen‐containing solvents. The Li2YCl5−yBry (y = 0, 2, and 5) solid electrolytes synthesized via pyridine solvent exhibit an ionic conductivity over 1 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 25 °C.

Detection of Toxic Gases and Volatile Organic Compounds Using Highly Adsorptive Nanomaterials: A Comprehensive Assessment

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
This review highlights how nanomaterials with high adsorption capacities including carbon‐based structures, transition metal oxides, 2D layers, and zeolites enable sensitive and selective detection of toxic gases and VOCs. Their tailored properties and sensing mechanisms drive the development of next‐generation gas sensors for environmental and ...

Machine Learning‐Based Air Temperature Prediction for Homa Bay County in Kenya: Implications for Weather‐Sensitive Sector Resilience

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Machine learning models, particularly random forest, demonstrate strong potential for localized temperature prediction in climatically complex regions, achieving high accuracy (R2 ≈ 0.91). Relative humidity (r = −0.92) and solar irradiance (r = 0.79) emerge as predictors, offering valuable insights for climate‐informed agricultural and water resource ...
