Adaptive Machine Learning Framework for Optimizing the Affinity Purification of Adeno‐Associated Viral Vectors

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Adeno‐associated viral (AAV) vectors for gene therapy are becoming integral to modern medicine, providing therapeutic options for diseases once deemed incurable. Currently, viral vector purification is a critical bottleneck in the gene therapy industry, impacting product efficacy and safety as well as accessibility and cost to patients ...

Net ecosystem exchange from two formerly afforested peatlands undergoing restoration in the Flow Country of northern Scotland [PDF]

open access: yesMires and Peat, 2019
Northern peatlands are important in the global carbon (C) cycle as they help regulate local, regional and global C budgets through high atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) uptake and low net CO2 losses to the atmosphere.

Evaluation of isoprene light response curves for bryophyte-dominated ecosystems and implications for atmospheric composition

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Ecology, 2022
Isoprene is emitted from numerous plant species in response to light and temperature and parameterisations of these relationships, based on observations from a few vascular plant species, have been shown to be broadly applicable to many different ...

Local Polynomial Regression and Filtering for a Versatile Mesh‐Free PDE Solver

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
A high‐order, mesh‐free finite difference method for solving differential equations is presented. Both derivative approximation and scheme stabilisation is carried out by parametric or non‐parametric local polynomial regression, making the resulting numerical method accurate, simple and versatile. Numerous numerical benchmark tests are investigated for

Potential evaporation at eddy-covariance sites across the globe [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2019
Potential evaporation (Ep) is a crucial variable for hydrological forecasting and drought monitoring. However, multiple interpretations of Ep exist, which reflect a diverse range of methods to calculate it.

Smart Sensor‐Integrated Lysimeter System for Affordable on‐Farm Crop Water Monitoring and Irrigation Management

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurate monitoring of crop water use is critical for precision irrigation, yet conventional lysimeter systems remain too costly and complex for widespread adoption. This study presents the development and field validation of a low‐cost, information and communication technology (ICT)‐enabled weighing lysimeter system that integrates load cells,

Dry‐Season Water Deficits in the Southwestern Amazon Under High Emissions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Projected climatic water deficit in the study region indicates a longer and more intense dry season, with delays in the onset of the wet season under higher emission scenarios. These changes, particularly, pronounced under SSP5‐8.5, suggest increased ecological vulnerability and greater seasonal water stress.
