Eddy Currents and Corner Singularities [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2012
Eddy current problems are addressed in this paper, in a bidimensional setting where the conducting medium is non-magnetic and has a corner singularity. For any fixed skin depth we show that the flux density is bounded near the corner, unlike the perfect conducting case.

Eddy impacts on the Florida Current [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2013
The Gulf Stream in the Atlantic carries warm water northwards and forms both the return closure of the subtropical gyre as well as the upper limb of the meridional overturning circulation. Recent time series recorded east of the Bahamas at 26°N indicate that from May 2009 to April 2011, in contrast with past observations, the northward flowing Antilles

Damage detection of cracks in carbon fibre reinforced composites by pulsed eddy-current testing

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Non-destructive evaluation techniques that are based on electromagnetic methods are commonly used for inspection of metallic and carbon fibre reinforced plastics parts. Some of these inspection methods are based on eddycurrents which are generated by the

Methodology for Eddy Current Losses Calculation in Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs)

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) is a commonly used linear displacement sensor because of its good measurement characteristics. When using laminated ferromagnetic cores in LVDTs, it is very important to take eddy currents into the account ...

Numerical Homogenization for the Calculation of Eddy Current Losses in a Laminated Open Core

open access: yesIEEE Access
Eddy currents are decoupled into narrow eddy currents, induced by the magnetic flux tangential to the laminations, and planar eddy currents, induced by the magnetic flux perpendicular to the laminations.

ENSO Modulates Mean Currents and Mesoscale Eddies in the Caribbean Sea

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Although El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and its global impacts through teleconnection have been known for decades, if and how the mean currents and mesoscale eddies in the Caribbean Sea are linked to ENSO remains an open question. Here, by analyzing

Simple Giant Magnetoresistance Probe Based Eddy Current System of Defect Characterization for Non-Destructive Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2022
The purpose of this paper is to present a new giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor, in eddy current testing technique for surface defect detection, in conducting materials, we show that the GMR based eddy currents probe is more sensitive than the ...

A High-Sensitivity Flexible Eddy Current Array Sensor for Crack Monitoring of Welded Structures under Varying Environment

open access: yesSensors, 2018
This paper develops a high-sensitivity flexible eddy current array (HS-FECA) sensor for crack monitoring of welded structures under varying environment. Firstly, effects of stress, temperature and crack on output signals of the traditional flexible eddy ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...
