Response of Total and Eddy Kinetic Energy to the recent spin up of the Beaufort Gyre

open access: yes, 2020
The Beaufort Gyre in the Arctic Ocean has spun up over the past two decades in response to changes of the wind forcing and sea ice conditions, accumulating a significant amount of freshwater.

Iron(III)‐loaded cation exchange resin: A dual approach for aqueous H2S removal and biogas desulphurization

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Left: Desulphurization method application. Right: Novel desulphurization method. Abstract The presence of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) in biogas poses significant environmental and operational challenges due to its corrosive and toxic properties. Thus, this study aimed to develop a dual‐function desulphurization system using a cation exchange resin (CIER ...

Dimensional Engineering of Wet‐Spun MOF‐Based Woven Fabrics for Superior Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work fabricated MOF‐based woven absorbing fabrics with dimensional engineering via a wet spinning strategy. The absorbing fabrics achieve a reflection loss of −51.47 dB at 2.9 mm, with an effective absorption bandwidth reaching 3.54 GHz. The absorbing fabrics can be freely bent, stretched, and folded, with individual fibers exhibiting a break ...

On atmospheric zonal to eddy kinetic energy exchange for January 1963

open access: yesTellus A: Dynamic Meteorology and Oceanography, 1967
An estimate of the exchange of kinetic energy between the large-scale atmospheric eddies and the zonal flow for January 1963 for the troposphere north of 20°N latitude has been made by means of a quasigeostrophic method. This more complete result is compared with the anomalous one obtained earlier by WIIN-NIELSEN, BROWN and DRAKE (1964).

The latitudinal dependence of the oceanic barotropic eddy kinetic energy and macroturbulence energy transport [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
AbstractGeostrophic turbulence theory predicted already a few decades ago an inverse energy cascade in the barotropic mode, yet there has been limited evidence for it in the ocean. In this study, the latitudinal behavior of the oceanic barotropic energy balance and macroturbulent scales is studied using the ECCO2 (Estimating the Circulation and Climate

Modelling and simulation of turbulence in unsteady separated and suddenly-expanded flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The scope of this PhD thesis is the simulation of turbulence in time-dependent, separated and suddenly-expanded channel flows. High-resolution and very high-order numerical methods have been employed in the framework of Implicit Large Eddy Simulation ...

Properties of [Fe(salen)]2‐μ‐Oxo Derivatives and Their Effect on Catalytic Hydrophosphination

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A series of [Fe(salen)]2‐μ‐oxo and [Fe(salophen)]2‐μ‐oxo complexes were synthesized to probe how ligand electronics and backbone rigidity influence redox behavior and catalytic hydrophosphination of styrene. Electron‐withdrawing substituents enhance stability and activity, enabling tunable, efficient C–P bond formation.
