Mixing Behavior of Natural Gas and Hydrogen in a High‐Efficiency Vane (HEV) Static Mixer

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Static mixers play a crucial role in the safe transport of hydrogen‐blended natural gas. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was employed to investigate the effects of structural parameters of the HEV static mixer on the mixing behavior and homogeneity of natural gas and hydrogen. The modeling approach was well validated against experimental data.

Technoeconomic Assessment of Wind Power Potential in the Vicinity of GolGohar Sirjan Mining and Industrial Company

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract of wind energy study in the Vicinity of GolGohar Sirjan Mining and Industrial Company. ABSTRACT Wind energy is a central pillar of sustainable energy transition; however, its feasibility strongly depends on site‐specific wind regimes and economic conditions.

Statistical Characteristics of Mesoscale Eddies in the North Pacific Derived from Satellite Altimetry

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2014
The sea level anomaly data derived from satellite altimetry are analyzed to investigate statistical characteristics of mesoscale eddies in the North Pacific. Eddies are detected by a free-threshold eddy identification algorithm. The results show that the

Blade Count and Rotational Speed Sensitivity of Vertical‐Axis Turbines Under Guided Vehicle‐Generated Transient Wakes

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Passing vehicles generate short‐duration wakes that can be redirected toward a vertical‐axis turbine. The interaction between wake structure, blade count, and rotational speed governs transient torque production. Low‐solidity configurations combined with tuned rotational speed enhance energy extraction under vehicle‐induced gusts.

Observation of Near-Inertial Oscillation in an Anticyclonic Eddy in the Northern South China Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Anticyclonic mesoscale eddies are known to trap and modulate near-inertial kinetic energy (NIKE); however, the spatial distribution of NIKE within the eddy core and periphery, as well as the mechanisms driving its energy cascade to smaller scales ...

Impacts of ocean current–atmosphere interactions on mesoscale eddy energetics in the Kuroshio extension region

open access: yesGeoscience Letters, 2020
The surface ocean current’s imprint on the wind stress (known as the current feedback) has a significant influence on the wind power input to the ocean. In this study, we investigate the effect of the current feedback on mesoscale eddy energetics in the ...

Unsteady Flow Behavior and Radial Force Analysis of a Side Channel Pump Under Different Blade Tip Cutting Angles Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The Radial Force (RF) distribution under different cutting angles is presented in Figure 1. Generally, the distribution of RF displays divergence across different flow conditions. The pattern of force distribution reveals a total of 24 peaks, which corresponds to the number of blades of the impeller of the SCP.

Toward an Energetically Consistent, Resolution Aware Parameterization of Ocean Mesoscale Eddies

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2019
A subgrid‐scale eddy parameterization is developed, which makes use of an explicit eddy kinetic energy budget and can be applied at both “non‐eddying” and “eddy‐permitting” resolutions.

Modification of inertial oscillations by the mesoscale eddy field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The modification of near-surface near-inertial oscillations (NIOs) by the geostrophic vorticity is studied globally from an observational standpoint. Surface drifter are used to estimate NIO characteristics.

The Renal Function of the Wild Rodent Cerradomys goytaca Reveals Adaptations in the Mechanisms of Urinary Concentration and Solute Excretion

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
Renal adaptations of Cerradomys goytaca associated with survival in its natural habitat. Graphical Abstract of the main renal physiological characteristics identified in C. goytaca. This species exhibits an increased kidney mass index, elevated urine osmolality, and enhanced tubular water reabsorption, indicating a higher capacity for water ...
