Predictive caching at the wireless edge using near-zero caches
Proceedings of the Twenty-First International Symposium on Theory, Algorithmic Foundations, and Protocol Design for Mobile Networks and Mobile Computing, 2020In this paper, we study the effect of predictive caching on the delay of wireless networks. We explore the possibility of caching at wireless end-users where caches are typically very small, orders of magnitude smaller than the catalog size. We develop a predictive multicasting and caching scheme, where the Base Station (BS) in a wireless cell ...

Towards edge-caching for image recognition
2017 IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications Workshops (PerCom Workshops), 2017With the available sensors on mobile devices and their improved CPU and storage capability, users expect their devices to recognize the surrounding environment and to provide relevant information and/or content automatically and immediately. For such classes of real-time applications, user perception of performance is key.

On energy-efficient caching at the wireless edge
Proceedings of the 1st Workshop on Content Caching and Delivery in Wireless Networks, 2016In this paper we study the problem of content placement for caching at the wireless edge with the goal to maximize the energy efficiency (EE) of heterogeneous wireless networks. We derive the EE performance of an MDS-encoded caching scheme, and we formulate the optimal caching scheme as a convex optimization problem.

Pushing smart caching to the edge with BayCache
Proceedings of the 16th EAI International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing, Networking and Services, 2019Caching contents in a small cell base station (SBS) is getting supported more and more widely today due to the Internet traffic growth and the requirement of low access latency. A primary concern and challenging issue with cache-enabled SBSs is how to better utilize network resources to achieve high overall performance.

SAM: Cache space allocation in collaborative edge-caching network
2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2017Edge caching technique is becoming more and more important in 5G network architecture, which shows great performance in terms of mitigating the backbone network congestion and reducing the delivery latency. The key idea of this technique is to cache popular contents in the small base stations(SBSs) which locate at the edge of the wireless network, and ...
