User Preference Learning-Based Edge Caching for Fog Radio Access Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, the edge caching problem in fog radio access network (F-RAN) is investigated. By maximizing the overall cache hit rate, the edge caching optimization problem is formulated to find the optimal policy. Content popularity in terms of time and

IoT Edge Caching: Taxonomy, Use Cases and Perspectives

open access: yes, 2022
Low latency is an essential constraint for many emerging Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Cloud-based solutions can impose excessive network and processing latency that might hinder the system's operation. On the other hand, offloading tasks to the

Semantic edge caching and prefetching in 5G

open access: yes2017 14th IEEE Annual Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC), 2017
Recent popularity of mobile devices increased the demand for mobile network services and applications that require minimal delay. 5G mobile networks are expected to provide much lesser delay than the present mobile networks. One of the conventional ways for decreasing the latency is caching the content closer to the end user.

Optimizing MDS Codes for Caching at the Edge [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2014
In this paper we investigate the problem of optimal MDS-encoded cache placement at the wireless edge to minimize the backhaul rate in heterogeneous networks. We derive the backhaul rate performance of any caching scheme based on file splitting and MDS encoding and we formulate the optimal caching scheme as a convex optimization problem.

Data-driven Approaches to Edge Caching [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2018 Workshop on Networking for Emerging Applications and Technologies, 2018
Content caching at network edge is a promising solution for serving emerging high-throughput low-delay applications, such as virtual reality, augmented reality and Internet-of-Things. The traditional caching algorithms need to adapt to the edge networking environment since old traffic assumptions may no longer hold.

Network Cost Minimization for Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface aided Edge Caching

open access: yes, 2021
In this paper, a new RIS-aided edge caching system is proposed, where a network cost minimization problem is formulated to optimize content placement at cache units, active beamforming at base station and passive phase shifting at RIS.

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights
