Designing a Deep Q-Learning Model with Edge-Level Training for Multi-Level Task Offloading in Edge Computing Networks

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Even though small portable devices are becoming increasingly more powerful in terms of processing power and power efficiency, there are still workloads that require more computational capacity than these devices offer. Examples of such workloads are real-

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Edge Caching at Base Stations With Device-to-Device Offloading

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Content caching at network edge nodes, such as base stations (BSs) and user equipments (UEs), can significantly reduce the traffic load in future cellular networks. Considering the limited caching space, the contents cached at BSs should be selected carefully for improving caching efficiency.

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.
