Kinetic study of the bifurcation of resonant magnetic perturbations for edge localized mode suppression in ASDEX Upgrade

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
The correlation between the bifurcation of resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) to the unshielded state and edge localized mode (ELM) suppression in ASDEX Upgrade is studied using a kinetic plasma response model numerically and analytically.

Mechanism of phonon localized edge modes

open access: yes, 2010
The phonon localized edge modes are systematically studied, and two conditions are proposed for the existence of the localized edge modes: (I) coupling between different directions ($x$, $y$ or $z$) in the interaction; (II) different boundary conditions in three directions.

Edge Modes and Nonlocal Conductance in Graphene Superlattices [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
We study the existence of edge modes in gapped Moir superlattices in graphene monolayer ribbons. We find that the superlattice bands acquire finite Chern numbers, which lead to a Valley Hall Effect. The presence of dispersive edge modes is confirmed by calculations of the band structure of realistic nanoribbons using tight binding methods. These edge

The role of atomic vacancies and boundary conditions on ballistic thermal transport in graphene nanoribbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Quantum thermal transport in armchair and zig-zag graphene nanoribbons are investigated in the presence of single atomic vacancies and subject to different boundary conditions.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Impact of lower hybrid wave injection on edge localized modes in the HL-3 tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Experiments assessing edge localized mode (ELM) control with lower hybrid wave (LHW) injection were carried out in the newly operational HL-3 tokamak for the first time, and the experimental results demonstrated that ELMs could be effectively suppressed ...

Visualization of core and edge MHD instabilities in 2D using ECEI

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
MHD instabilities in the core and edge of the KSTAR plasmas have been visualized in 2D using an electron cyclotron emission imaging (ECEI) system with sufficient time and space resolutions for the study of the underlying dynamics.

Lattice topology and spontaneous parametric down-conversion in quadratic nonlinear waveguide arrays

open access: yes, 2015
We analyze spontaneous parametric down-conversion in various experimentally feasible 1D quadratic nonlinear waveguide arrays, with emphasis on the relationship between the lattice's topological invariants and the biphoton correlations.

Toward a first-principles integrated simulation of tokamak edge plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Performance of the ITER is anticipated to be highly sensitive to the edge plasma condition. The edge pedestal in ITER needs to be predicted from an integrated simulation of the necessary first-principles, multi-scale physics codes.
