Investigation of effects on the contact condition and the collision behaviour of a wheelset with a flat set on a roller rig by the shape at the edge of the wheel flat

The authors show that the control volume algorithm for the solution of the Dirichlet problem attached to the Poisson equation in three dimensions converges even if the mesh contains a class of very flat tetrahedra (slivers). They also show that a discrete Poincaré inequality continues to hold in the presence of slivers.
