Three-phase transformer arcing horns; neglected deadly components to birds

open access: yesAvocetta, 2020
Unprotected power transformers are known to create electrocution problems for wildlife. However, the role of three-phase transformer arcing horns and bird electrocutions has not been investigated.

Development of Hybrid EDM System Combining Multispark EDM and Conventional EDM

open access: yesJournal of The Japan Society of Electrical Machining Engineers, 2003
This paper describes a newly developed hybrid EDM system which is composed of the multispark EDM system and conventional EDM system. Multispark EDM is characterized by higher removal rates and lower energy consumption compared with conventional EDM. However, it was difficult to obtain a continuously stable state with the multispark mode.

The Optimization of Micro-Edm Machining Process when Using Carbon Coated Micro Electrode as a Tool

open access: yes, 2023
The amount of electrode wear in micro-EDM has a direct effect on the dimensional accuracy of the machined hole. Therefore, improving the corrosion resistance of electrodes in micro-EDM is still of great interest.

Testing nest deterrents for Chihuahuan ravens on H‐frame transmission structures

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2015
Chihuahuan ravens (Corvus cryptoleucus) regularly perch and nest on electric utility structures. Because ravens perch on overhead shield wires, for which no perch discourager exists, management focuses on nests.

Studying the Affect of Current on (MRR) and (EW) in Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2013
The experimental work of this study leads with electro discharge machining (EDM). A system for machining in this process has been developed. Many parameters are studied such as current, dielectric fluid, thickness of the workpiece.
