Laser Additive Manufacturing of Oxide‐Dispersion‐Strengthened Steels: A Simulation‐Based Comparison Between Powder Bed Fusion and Direct Energy Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the size and distribution of dispersoids is essential for optimizing the performance of oxide‐dispersion‐strengthened steels. This study focuses on nanoparticle dispersion and agglomeration during laser additive manufacturing of Fe20Cr alloy reinforced with ZrO 2 nanoparticles. Utilizing multiphysics phase‐field simulations and nanoparticle

From outer circle to center stage: The maturation of heterodox economics [PDF]

open access: yes
This is chapter 2 of the book "Future Directions in Heterodox Economics" by John T. Harvey and Robert F. Garnett, Jr., Editors. The inner circle of neoclassical economics has limited its horizons, increasing the scope for heterodox economists to claim ...

Tribology of ZrC Coatings and Spherical Tips Acquired with Extraordinarily Stiff, Metal Atomic Force Microscopy Probes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this research, ZrC coatings are evaluated against various counterprobes at the microscale using novel super‐stiff atomic force microscopy cantilevers. The chemical composition of the coating is shown to be an important factor influencing coating hardness and Young's modulus, while surface roughness, counterprobe hardness, and surface energy are the ...

Morphological Study of Surface Magnetic Minerals, Case Study of North Banjarmasin Settlement Areas

open access: yesJurnal Fisika Flux
We have conducted research to identify the morphology of magnetic minerals from the land in the Banjarmasin regional settlement area. We used scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM EDS) on the soil sample to look at ...

Mechanical and Microstructural Effects of ZrO2 Nanoparticles in Fe20Cr Oxide Dispersion‐Strengthened Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of oxide nanoparticle synthesis route and concentration on microstructure and high‐temperature performance of additively manufactured oxide dispersion‐strengthened steels is investigated. Comparing laser‐generated and chemically synthesized ZrO2 nanoparticles, the study reveals how dispersion quality, crystal structure and particle size ...

Temperature driven crossover phenomena in the correlation lengths of the one-dimensional t-J model

open access: yes, 2002
We describe a modified transfer matrix renormalization group (TMRG) algorithm and apply it to calculate thermodynamic properties of the one-dimensional t-J model. At the supersymmetric point we compare with Bethe ansatz results and make direct connection

Influence of Testing Temperature on the Mechanical Performance of Brazed Conventionally and Additively Manufactured 316L Stainless Steel Joints

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports for the first time the mechanical properties of brazed joints featuring Additively manufactured parts, such parts will likely need to be joined or combined with other components, and brazing offers a way of doing this for complex shapes without distortion. A new shear test methodology developed for such joints is also described.

Assessing the Microstructure of SnBiZn Alloys during Semisolid Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The development of Sn‐based alloys for semisolid processing is crucial for Industry 4.0. This study investigates Sn40Bi and Sn40Bi2Zn alloys, revealing that Zn refines Sn‐rich globules by pinning dendrite boundaries. Bi saturation occurs at 60 min, while Zn enhances globule microhardness at 90 min through solid solution strengthening.
