A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

The effect of Morinda Citrifolia juice as an endodontic irrigant on smear layer and microhardness of root canal dentin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1925
PurposeThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Morinda Citrifolia Juice (MCJ) on smear layer removal and microhardness value of root canal dentin in compared with various endodontic irrigants.Material and methodsEighty-four single-rooted ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Lead Phyto extraction in the Huachipa Zoological Park through the use of Tagetes erecta associated with a mycorrhiza and EDTA

open access: yesPeruvian Journal of Agronomy, 2020
Phytoremediation is a potentially less costly approach to treat contaminated soil. Here, the phytoremediation capacity of marigold (Tagetes erecta) in conjunction with EDTA and mycorrhizae was analyzed.

Rotavirus 993/83, isolated from calf faeces, closely resembles an avian rotavirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Polypeptides from purified virions of the calf rotavirus (RV) isolate 993/83 and those from the pigeon RV isolate PO-13 comigrated on SDS-polyacrylamide gels. Two polypeptides of 45K and 47K were detected at the position of VP6.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Effect of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) and maleic acid as root-end conditioners on the sealing ability of ProRoot mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine as root-end filling materials: An in vitro study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects
Background. Apicoectomy is often required to treat a non-healing endodontic lesion. Materials used during this procedure, such as root-end conditioners and retrograde filling materials, can significantly affect the success.

Characterizing RecA-Independent Induction of Shiga toxin2-encoding Phages by EDTA Treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The bacteriophage life cycle has an important role in Shiga toxin (Stx) expression. The induction of Shiga toxin-encoding phages (Stx phages) increases toxin production as a result of replication of the phage genome, and phage lysis of the host cell also
