Nutrient input from the Colorado River to the northern Gulf of California is not required to maintain a productive pelagic ecosystem

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2015
The high phytoplankton production (PP) of the northern Gulf of California (NGC) supports a rich biodiversity and fisheries with high yields. The NGC is the habitat of the vaquita (Phocoena sinus), the cetacean most at risk of extinction in the world ...

Comparative Study of Bulk and Nanoscale BiVO4 Photoanodes in Photoelectrochemical Oxidation Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Nanoscale and bulk BiVO4 photoelectrodes are fabricated on SnO2‐based substrates via spin coating from the same precursor solution. Their photoelectrochemical behavior toward glycerol and sulfite oxidation is compared. Nanoscale BiVO4 shows higher photocurrents, attributed to improved charge transport and transfer revealed by impedance analysis ...

Water–air carbon fluxes in the coastal upwelling zone off northern Baja California

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2015
An important challenge in marine science is to quantify the air–sea flux of carbon because of its possible relation to climate change and the decreasing pH in seawater.

The Structure of Nitro‐ and Polynitropyrazoles: X‐Ray Crystallography Versus Theoretical Calculations

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Abstract This publication presents the geometries of 157 nitro‐ and polynitropyrazoles. Among these, 109 compounds were theoretically studied using mainly the B3LYP/6–311++G(d,p) level of theory. Three‐parameter Lee‐Yang‐Parr (B3LYP) is a density functional theory (DFT) method widely used in computational chemistry and constitutes an acceptable ...

Primary productivity observations in the eastern tropical Pacific off Cabo Corrientes, Mexico

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2009
The in situ primary productivity (PP) and phytoplankton biomass (chlorophyll a concentration, Chla) of the Cabo Corrientes region, in the eastern tropical Pacific off Mexico, were studied using data from three oceanographic cruises (May and November ...

Unveiling the Direct Air Capture and Transformation to Formate Under Mild Conditions

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
Aiming to decrease CO2 emissions and proposing new green and sustainable strategies and technologies, in this research we have conducted direct air capture and transformation into formate using a sequential process. In the first step, we absorbed CO2 into an ionic liquid and then transformed into formate by using mild conditions.

Moral Perceptions in Politics: Ideological Asymmetries in Perceived Moral Obligations and Stereotypical Perceptions Across Leftists and Rightists

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Social Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In two studies conducted in Spain, we identified asymmetries in moral judgements, showing that leftist political topics and individuals were perceived as more moral than their rightist counterparts. Study 1 assessed the participants’ perceived moral obligation to defend topics traditionally associated with leftist or rightist ideologies.

Tracking and Grasping of Moving Objects Using Aerial Robotic Manipulators: A Brief Survey

open access: yesRevista UIS Ingenierías, 2023
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) has evolved in recent years, their features have changed to be more useful to the society, although some years ago the drones had been thought to be teleoperated by humans and to take some pictures from above, which is ...

Maximizing Scientific Exploitation of Raman Spectroscopy With A.C.M.E. (Atmospheric Chamber for Measurements in Environment)

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Simulated planetary gas detection using the A.C.M.E. chamber and a novel hollow‐core fiber Raman sensor. Controlled atmospheric mixtures were used to evaluate the sensor’s performance, demonstrating its capability to detect gases such as CO₂, O₂, and N₂. The results support the applicability of the HCF‐based Raman sensor in future planetary exploration
