A Phytochrome-Interacting Factor Gene CaPIF7a Positively Regulates the Defense Response against Phytophthora capsici Infection in Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)

open access: yesAgronomy
Phytochrome-interacting factor (PIF) is a subfamily of the basic helix–loop–helix (bHLH) transcription factors (TFs) and plays key roles in plant responses to diverse biotic and abiotic stresses.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

lncRNA-operated stem cell fate control: RPS3 mediates the in situ Gm16751–Zhx3 interactome to program spermatogonial stem cell differentiation

open access: yesCell & Bioscience
Background Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play pivotal regulatory roles in mammalian male gametogenesis. Advances in high-throughput technologies have demonstrated that lncRNAs orchestrate robust, flexible, and context-specific gene regulatory networks ...

The effect of terpinen-4-ol in controlling blueberry fruit rot causing by Alternaria tenuissima

open access: yesFuture Foods
Terpinen-4-ol (T4O) is the main ingredient of tea tree essential oil with a light aroma. This study examined its inhibition on Alternaria tenuissima, and controlling effects on blueberry Alternaria fruit rot (AFR). The results demonstrated that 0.2 μL mL−

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

MaHSFA2c modulates high temperature-inhibited chlorophyll breakdown in banana fruit by directly inducing the transcription of the E3 ligase gene MaBAH1

open access: yesMolecular Horticulture
Bananas (Musa acuminata, AAA group) ripening at temperatures higher than 24 °C prevent yellow skin development, resulting in green ripening, and significantly affecting the commercial potential of the fruit.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

CaPHOT1 Negatively Regulates the Pepper Resistance to Phytophthora capsici Infection

open access: yesPlants
Phototropins (PHOTs) are plant blue-light receptors that mediate crucial physiological processes such as phototropism, chloroplast movement, stomatal opening, and flowering. However, the PHOT family genes remain poorly characterized in pepper.

Educating for preserving biodiversity

open access: yesTransformación, 2014
The notion of “culture of diversity” is presented in a new dimension. “That of educating for preserving biodiversity” is advanced together with its main challenges. The need of educating the masses for preserving biodiversity is perhaps the most outstanding to be faced, particularly if pedagogic requirements and the diversity of population is to be met.
