Visual analysis of high density EEG: As good as electrical source imaging?
Objective: In this study, we sought to determine whether visual analysis of high density EEG (HD-EEG) would provide similar localizing information comparable to electrical source imaging (ESI). Methods: HD-EEG (256 electrodes) recordings from 20 patients

Detection of intention level in response to task difficulty from EEG signals [PDF]
We present an approach that enables detecting intention levels of subjects in response to task difficulty utilizing an electroencephalogram (EEG) based brain-computer interface (BCI).

The Road Not Taken: Misclassifying an Anti‐Seizure Medication as a Failure
ABSTRACT Objective To quantify how often anti‐seizure medications (ASMs) appear ineffective yet provide benefit when considering seizure frequency (SF) variability. Methods We used the CHOCOLATES seizure diary simulator to generate 100,000 patient seizure diaries that reflect natural SF variation in a heterogeneous population.

Non-factorizable effects in B-anti-B mixing
We study the B-parameter (``bag factor'') for B-anti-B mixing within a recently developed heavy-light chiral quark model. Non-factorizable contributions in terms of gluon condensates and chiral corrections are calculated.

EEG–fMRI mapping of asymmetrical delta activity in a patient with refractory epilepsy is concordant with the epileptogenic region determined by intracranial EEG [PDF]
We studied a patient with refractory focal epilepsy using continuous EEG-correlated fMRI. Seizures were characterized by head turning to the left and clonic jerking of the left arm, suggesting a right frontal epileptogenic region.

Editor,—We welcome the debate on the timing of EEG examinations.1 The practice of delaying the EEG until after a second seizure began when epilepsy syndromes were unrecognised. The EEG was then of little help in predicting prognosis or guiding treatment, but has been transformed by the recognition of epilepsy syndromes. Although some of these syndromes

ICU‐EEG Pattern Detection by a Convolutional Neural Network
ABSTRACT Objective Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) often require continuous EEG (cEEG) monitoring due to the high risk of seizures and rhythmic and periodic patterns (RPPs). However, interpreting cEEG in real time is resource‐intensive and heavily relies on specialized expertise, which is not always available.

Using Choice Experiments to Assess Environmental Impacts of Dams in Portugal
Despite their well-known benefits in electricity production, dams are also responsible for some adverse environmental impacts affecting particularly the wellbeing of residents of the local communities.

Revealing spatio-spectral electroencephalographic dynamics of musical mode and tempo perception by independent component analysis. [PDF]
BackgroundMusic conveys emotion by manipulating musical structures, particularly musical mode- and tempo-impact. The neural correlates of musical mode and tempo perception revealed by electroencephalography (EEG) have not been adequately addressed in the
