Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Effective Persuasion [PDF]

open access: possibleSSRN Electronic Journal, 2011
Do elementary statistics or equilibrium theory deliver any insight regarding how we should argue in debates? We provide an answer in a model in which each discussant wants to convince the audience that a specific state holds. If the discussants' payoffs in the audience's posterior are concave above and convex below the prior and exhibit loss aversion ...

Effective Measures of ''Effective Discharge''

World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2008, 2008
Abstract The concept of effective discharge, Qe, was introduced by Wolman and Miller (1960) as that stream discharge that transports the most sediment over time. Recently, the validity of Qe as an overall descriptor of sediment transport has been questioned because of its various interpretations and methods of calculation.

Effective effective interactions

The European Physical Journal A, 2003
The use of effective field theory techniques allows the basic physics to be extracted from otherwise complex systems. We cite examples from quantum mechanics, condensed-matter physics, QCD, and quantum gravity.

The Effect Effect

IEEE Spectrum, 2009
Scientists and technologists have long used the word effect-as in the Doppler effect, the butterfly effect, and the greenhouse effect-to good effect. In fact, effect has been so, uh, effective at naming things that it has branched out into the mainstream.

Effecting, but effective?

2020
Business model (BM) visualisations have become popular instruments with which to explain and manage today's complex business interactions. Using verbal and graphic elements, they provide simplified representations of reality and can support BM tasks that go beyond working memory's capacities.

Black phosphorus field-effect transistors.

Nature Nanotechnology, 2014
Two-dimensional crystals have emerged as a class of materials that may impact future electronic technologies. Experimentally identifying and characterizing new functional two-dimensional materials is challenging, but also potentially rewarding.

Multigenerational Effects

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 2019
Environmental influences resulting in epigenetic mediation of gene expression can affect multiple generations via direct effect (first generation); direct or maternally mediated effects on the fetus (second generation), or gonadal cell lines of the fetus (third generation) when pregnant animals are exposed to the stimuli; and through generational ...
