Effects of Fiber Shapes on Moisture Diffusion Coefficients
Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, 1993Diffusion coefficient is an important parameter used for theoretical estima tion of moisture content in a body when it is exposed to a moist environment. The diffu sion coefficient of FRP materials usually depends on several parameters, such as the diffusivities of constituents, fiber volume fraction, moisture concentration of the environ ment, and ...

Effective diffusion coefficient of sucrose in calcium alginate gel
Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 1990The effective diffusion coefficient of sucrose in 5% calcium alginate gel containing 41.6 g.d.c. l-1. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was investigated. Both free and immobilized S. cerevisiae in 0.175 cm and 0.3 cm diameter particles were used and the reactions were achieved in a medium containing 100 g l-1 sucrose and 0.05 M CaCl2.

Solute–solvent interaction effects on tracer diffusion coefficients
Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 1: Physical Chemistry in Condensed Phases, 1984Tracer diffusion coefficients (D) for a variety of dipolar and non-dipolar solutes have been measured at normal atmospheric pressure in solutions of acetonitrile, toluene, n-hexane and water at 298.15 K, and in octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (OMCTS) at 323.15 K.

Determination of the effective diffusion coefficient
2011The equation for drying kinetics is obtained, base on the analytical solution of the differential equation with a boundary condition in the form of the flux. This equation was initially developed by G. Efremov. In this paper a modification of the Efremov drying equation will be presented.

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1998
Experimental measurements of effective diffusive permeabilities and effective diffusion coefficients in biofilms are reviewed. Effective diffusive permeabilities, the parameter appropriate to the analysis of reaction-diffusion interactions, depend on solute type and biofilm density.

Effect of Catalyst Diffusion Coefficient on Ethylbenzene Dehydrogenation
Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2011The effective diffusion coefficients for a single catalyst pellet were determined by numerical integration of the Johnson-Stewart equation for bimodal and unimodal pore size distributions assuming a transitional diffusion regime. The effectiveness factors of a spherical catalyst pellet were determined at various pore size distribution probability ...

Kirkendall Effect in Gaseous Diffusion. II. Absolute Determination of Diffusion Coefficients
The Physics of Fluids, 1961It is shown how the Kirkendall effect in gaseous diffusion can be used to determine absolute values of diffusion coefficients, rather than only relative values, by extrapolation of the observed marker motion to zero capillary diameter. In this way the diffusion coefficient of He-Ar at 30°C and 1 atm is found to be 0.761 cm2/sec, in agreement with a ...

Effective diffusion coefficient for two-dimensional, periodic channels
Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1984Abstract A Green's function method has been used to calculate the first-passage time for traveling a fixed distance in a two-dimensional space with periodic walls. The results are used to find the effective diffusion coefficient for the space. Application to three-dimensional spaces with cylindrical symmetry and periodic walls is outlined.
