Estimation of effective cleanup radius for soil‐vapor extraction systems
Journal of Soil Contamination, 1993Abstract Soil‐vapor extraction (SVE) is a standard and effective in situ treatment for the removal of volatile contaminants from vadose‐zone soil. The duration of SVE operation required to reach site closure is quite variable, however, ranging up to several years or more.

Abstract Space-charge effects limit the beam-extraction capability of the ion optics and thus hinder the miniaturization and other performance improvements of ion thrusters. This paper presents numerical studies of the space-charge effects in ion optics using hybrid and full particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations, and proposes a modified ...

Effective Radius and Underpressure of an Air Extraction Well in a Heterogeneous Porous Medium
Transport in Porous Media, 1997We consider the compressible steady state air flow in a porous medium caused by an extraction well and governed by Darcy's law. For a homogeneous soil matrix we have derived formulas (in 2-D and 3-D) to determine the effective radius of a single well depending on the well position and the depth of the domain.
