The effective field theory treatment of quantum gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This is a pedagogical introduction to the treatment of quantum general relativity as an effective field theory. It starts with an overview of the methods of effective field theory and includes an explicit example. Quantum general relativity matches this framework and I discuss gravitational examples as well as the limits of the effective field theory ...

On String Field Theory and Effective Actions [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys. B391 (1993) 229-256, 1992
A truncation of string field theory is compared with the duality invariant effective action of $D=4, N=4$ heterotic strings to cubic order. The three string vertex must satisfy a set of compatibility conditions. Any cyclic three string vertex is compatible with the $D=4, N=4$ effective field theory.

COMP Report: CPQR technical quality control guidelines for use of positron emission tomography/computed tomography in radiation treatment planning

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Positron emission tomography with x‐ray computed tomography (PET/CT) is increasingly being utilized for radiation treatment planning (RTP). Accurate delivery of RT therefore depends on quality PET/CT data. This study covers quality control (QC) procedures required for PET/CT for diagnostic imaging and incremental QC required for RTP.

Soft bootstrap and effective field theories

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
The soft bootstrap program aims to construct consistent effective field theories (EFT’s) by recursively imposing the desired soft limit on tree-level scattering amplitudes through on-shell recursion relations.

Uniqueness of radiomic features in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The uniqueness of radiomic features, combined with their reproducibility, determines the reliability of radiomic studies. This study is to test the hypothesis that radiomic features extracted from a defined region of interest (ROI) are unique to the underlying structure (e.g., tumor). Approach Two cohorts of non‐small cell lung cancer (

T T ¯ $$ T\overline{T} $$ deformations in curved space from 4D Chern-Simons theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
In this paper, we shed new light onto T T ¯ $$ T\overline{T} $$ -deformations by engineering them on 2D surface defects, supporting chiral and antichiral CFT’s, in a 4D Chern-Simons bulk. This approach is motivated by various connections between T T ¯ $$

Superluminality in DHOST theory with extra scalar

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We consider DHOST Ia theory interacting gravitationally with an additional conventional scalar field minimally coupled to gravity. At the linearized level of perturbations about cosmological background, we find that in the presence of a slowly rolling ...

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Effective field theories and inflationary magnetogenesis

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2021
The effective approach is applied to the analysis of inflationary magnetogenesis. Rather than assuming a particular underlying description, all the generally covariant terms potentially appearing with four space-time derivatives in the effective action ...

Emergent supersymmetry in local equilibrium systems

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
Many physical processes we observe in nature involve variations of macroscopic quantities over spatial and temporal scales much larger than microscopic molecular collision scales and can be considered as in local thermal equilibrium.
