Effective field theories and inflation [PDF]
We investigate the possible influence of very-high-energy physics on inflationary predictions focussing on whether effective field theories can allow effects which are parametrically larger than order H^2/M^2, where M is the scale of heavy physics and H is the Hubble scale at horizon exit.

Effective field theories with instantons [PDF]
We explain how nonperturbative effects can be systematically included when constructing an effective field theory. We concentrate in particular on the matching calculation, by which a low energy theory without a heavy particle degree of freedom is matched onto the full theory.

Effective Field Theory of 3He [PDF]
3He and the triton are studied as three-body bound states in the effective field theory without pions. We study 3He using the set of integral equations developed by Kok et al. which includes the full off-shell T-matrix for the Coulomb interaction between the protons.

Introduction to effective field theory [PDF]
An introduction to methods of effective field theory is given. Examples are presented, including Rayleigh scattering from nonrelativistic quantum mechnics, chiral perturbation theory/QCD as well as electromagnetic and weak interactions of nucleons.

Operator dimensions from moduli
We consider the operator spectrum of a three-dimensional N = 2 $$ \mathcal{N}=2 $$ superconformal field theory with a moduli space of one complex dimension, such as the fixed point theory with three chiral superfields X, Y, Z and a superpotential W = XYZ.

Derivation of effective field theories [PDF]
A general self-consistency approach allows a thorough treatment of the corrections to the mean-field approximation (MFA). The natural extension of standard MFA with the help of a cumulant expansion leads to a new point of view on the effective field theories. The proposed approach can be used for a systematic treatment of fluctuation effects of various

Homological classification of topological terms in sigma models on homogeneous spaces
We classify the topological terms (in a sense to be made precise) that may appear in a non-linear sigma model based on maps from an arbitrary worldvolume manifold to a homogeneous space G/H (where G is an arbitrary Lie group and H ⊂ G).

Ghostbusters: unitarity and causality of non-equilibrium effective field theories
: For a non-equilibrium physical system defined along a closed time path (CTP), a key constraint is the so-called largest time equation, which is a consequence of unitarity and implies causality.
