Porcine FcγRIIb mediates enhancement of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) of virus infection caused by the uptake of virus-antibody complexes by FcγRs is a significant obstacle to the development of effective vaccines to control certain human and animal viral diseases. The activation FcγRs,

Nuclear multifragmentation and fission: similarity and differences

open access: yes, 2006
Thermal multifragmentation of hot nuclei is interpreted as the nuclear liquid--fog phase transition deep inside the spinodal region. The experimental data for p(8.1GeV) + Au collisions are analyzed. It is concluded that the decay process of hot nuclei is

The importance of initial-final state correlations for the formation of fragments in heavy ion collisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Using quantum molecular dynamics simulations, we investigate the formation of fragments in symmetric reactions between beam energies of E=30AMeV and 600AMeV.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Development and characterization of a high-performance single-particle aerosol mass spectrometer (HP-SPAMS) [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques
This study describes a high-performance single-particle mass spectrometry (HP-SPAMS) design in detail. The comprehensive improvements in the injection system, optical sizing system, mass spectrometry, and data acquisition system have improved particle ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Engineering a new tripartite split-ccGFP system from Corynactis californica for detecting protein–protein interactions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are critical to a range of biological processes and, consequently, aberrant interactions are implicated in many disorders.

Nuclear moments of the low-lying isomeric 1+ state of 34Al: Investigation on the neutron 1p1h excitation across N = 20 in the island of inversion

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
The nuclear g factor and quadrupole moment (Qs) have been measured for the low-lying isomeric 1+ state of 34Al, using the β-detected nuclear magnetic resonance (β-NMR) and quadrupole resonance (β-NQR) methods.

Calculating excited states of molecular aggregates by the renormalized excitonic method

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we apply the recently developed ab initio renormalized excitonic method (REM) to the excitation energy calculations of various molecular aggregates, through the extension of REM to the time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
