Journal of Management Education, 2011
This article develops and presents a model of the relationships among emotional intelligence, self-leadership, and stress coping among management students. In short, the authors’ model suggests that effective emotion regulation and self-leadership, as mediated through positive affect and self-efficacy, has the potential to facilitate stress coping ...

Managerial Auditing Journal, 1994
Gives an overview of events in the field of stress management. Describes the relationship of stress to the human autonomic nervous system and discusses the physiological effects in relation to type A/B behaviour. Investigates the sources and methods of detection of stress.

Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, 1987
Using multiple regression, the main and interactive effects of stress, social support, locus of control, and gender on psychological adjustment were investigated. In order to understand the complex interactions found, the adjustment effects of stress and social support were examined within four subgroups: internal and external men and women college ...

Stress effect on reliability-II
Trabajos de estadistica y de investigacion operativa, 1973In this paper two mathematical models have been developed for evaluating reliability of a component when component strength is encountered by stress. The distribution of component strength is assumed to follow gamma distribution whereas for stress it is regarded to be normal.

Hypocitricemic effect of surgical stress
Journal of Surgical Research, 1973Abstract Plasma citrate changes in response to surgical stress were studied in 30 patients. A marked hypocitricemia was apparent by 1 day postoperative and persisted over the recovery period (7–14 days in these studies). Plasma cortisol levels were markedly increased within 6 hr postoperatively, and by 1 day postoperatively the cortisol levels ...

I am glad Dr. Mandel took up the question of stress. Handling of laboratory animals easily leads to stress, and it is difficult to avoid a stress factor in any learning experiment. Therefore, we asked ourselves whether stress can give rise to RNA changes in nerve cells similar to those which we have observed in learning experiments.

Stress-effects in Microcebus murinus
Folia Primatologica, 1982Histological investigations were made over a 10-year period on 164 lesser mouse lemurs that died spontaneously in captivity. The principal lesions found were chronic nephrosis with nephritis which affects 90% of the animals, myocardial necrosis, respiratory insufficiency induced by interstitial pneumonia, fatty changes in the liver, and splenic and ...

Abstract Stressors activate the “fight or flight” response, a protective mechanism of the body to adapt to and prepare for challenging situations. Overall, prolonged stress can lead to and/or worsen endocrine disorders and can produce a reduction in neuroprotective hormones. Overactivation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis

Effects of Stress on Lactation
Pediatric Clinics of North America, 2001With the benefits of human milk well recognized, it is an opportune time to focus attention on how to optimize lactation for the benefit of newborns. Availability of mother's milk is conceivable only if lactation is sustained. To achieve this, mothers must be willing first to breastfeed or pump to initiate lactation, and their lactation must be ...
