The Thomson Effect and Thermal Conduction in Metals

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1920
The Thomson EJfect.-In these PROCEEDINGS for March, 1920, is a paper in which I undertook to account for the Thomson effect values, as found by Bridgman for many metals, in accordance with the hypothesis of dual electric conduction. Using data obtained by the methods of that paper, I was able, as I stated at the Washington meeting of the National ...

The effective thermal conductivity of leathers.

open access: yesNetsu Bussei, 1990

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Isotope Effects on Thermal Conductivity of Boron Carbide. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 2002
The isotopically enriched disk samples of 10B4 12C, (10B0.75 11B0.25)4 12C, (10B0.20 11B0.80)4 12C, 10B4 13C, 10B4 (12C0.50 13C0.50), 11B4 (12C0.50 13C0.50), 11B4 12C, 11B4 13C and natural nB4 nC were prepared by the spark plasma sintering method. The thermal diffusivity for each sample was measured by the laser flash method over the temperature range ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Random checkerboard based homogenization for estimating effective thermal conductivity of fully saturated soils

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2017
This paper proposes homogenization scheme for estimating the effective thermal conductivity of fully saturated soils. This approach is based on the random checkerboard-like microstructure. Two modeling scales and two modeling approaches are distinguished
