On the Use of the Effective Width for Simply Supported Generally Loaded Box-Girders
A new method for evaluating the effective flange width of simply supported rectangular box-girders in bending is illustrated. It aims to overcome the lack in the literature of a general method able to supply the effective flange width for a general ...

Time to Capture a Moving Target Travelling along a Circular Trajectory
This study measured the time it took to select a target moving along a circular trajectory with a computer mouse. The time was changed according to the speed of the target, the width of target and the distance from the starting point to the target ...

Due to the shear strain in the plane of the slab, the parts of the slab remote from the steel beam lag behind the part of the slab located in its proximity. This shear lag effect causes a non-uniform stress distribution across the width of the slab. As a

Optimization of Linear Quantization for General and Effective Low Bit-Width Network Compression
Current edge devices for neural networks such as FPGA, CPLD, and ASIC can support low bit-width computing to improve the execution latency and energy efficiency, but traditional linear quantization can only maintain the inference accuracy of neural ...

Uplift behaviors of perforated mudmats in soft saturated clay
Perforation can cause lower uplift resistance in soft clay, giving rise to less difficulty of the retrieval of “mudmat” shallow foundations. Six different perforated forms are designed to perform in the model tests on the uplift behaviors in soft ...

In medium effects on the $\phi$ meson
The temperature dependence of the $\phi$ meson mass and its decay width ($\phi \rightarrow K \bar{K}$)have been studied from an effective non-linear chiral Lagrangian in $SU(3)$.

Tube Width Fluctuations in F-Actin Solutions [PDF]
We determine the statistics of the local tube width in F-actin solutions, beyond the usually reported mean value. Our experimental observations are explained by a segment fluid theory based on the binary collision approximation (BCA).

Effect of Bezel Presence and Width on Visual Search [PDF]
We investigate how the presence and width of interior bezels impacts visual search performance across tiled displays. In spite of a potential benefit from structured segmentation, we do not find significant differences in visual search time, and note a small effect size of less than 0.5% for bezel width.
