Computationally efficient sensitivity analysis for building ecodesign with many-level categorical input factors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Metrology and Quality Engineering, 2023
Dynamic building energy simulation and life cycle assessment (LCA) are useful ecodesign tools to mitigate the energy and environmental impacts of buildings.

Event-by-Event Efficiency Fluctuations and Efficiency Correction for Cumulants of Superposed Multiplicity Distributions in Relativistic Heavy-ion Collision Experiments [PDF]

open access: yesChinese Physics C 42, 104001 (2018), 2018
We performed systematic studies on the effects of event-by-event efficiency fluctuations on efficiency correction for cumulant analysis in relativistic heavy-ion collision experiments. Experimentally, particle efficiencies of events measured under different experimental conditions should be different.

Efficient Exclusion

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2005
In their influential paper, Aghion and Bolton (1987) argue that a buyer and a seller may agree on high liquidation damages in order to extract rents from future suppliers. As this may distort future trade, it may be socially wasteful. We argue that Aghion and Bolton's analysis of entry is incomplete in some respects, as there is only one potential ...

Corrosion Inhibition Behavior of Indazole Derivative as a Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in Hydrochloric Acid: Electrochemical, Weight Loss and DFT Simulations Studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The effect of Indazole derivative (AY20) against the corrosion of mild steel (MS) in 1 M acidic chloride (HCl) solution was investigated by chemical (weight loss – WL) and electrochemical (Tafel polarization and Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy ...

Opportunities of energy saving in lighting systems for public buildings

open access: yesRenewable Energy and Sustainable Development, 2017
The lighting system provides many options for cost-effective energy saving with low or no inconvenience. Lighting improvements are excellent investments in most public buildings, it is usually cost-effective to address because lighting improvements are ...

Holographic heat engine efficiency of hyperbolic charged black holes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We consider a four-dimensional charged hyperbolic black hole as working matter to establish a black hole holographic heat engine, and use the rectangular cycle to obtain the heat engine efficiency. We find that when the increasing of entropy is zero, the heat engine efficiency of the hyperbolic black hole becomes the well-known Carnot efficiency.

The efficiency and eco-efficiency of manufacturing [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nanomanufacturing, 2010
In this paper, we review the efficiency of both manufacturing processes and systems over recent decades and compare nano-materials technologies in this context. To a first approximation, nano-materials processes appear to be about as efficient as semi-conductor processes.

Are Efficiency Wages Efficient?

open access: yes, 1986
Efficiency wage models have been criticized because worker malfeasance can be prevented in a pareto efficient manner by requiring workers to post a bond which they lose if they are caught cheating. However, since it is costly to monitor workers and costless to demand a larger bond, firms should pay nothing for monitoring and demand very large bonds ...

Market Efficiency, Long-Term Returns, and Behavioral Finance

open access: yes, 1997
Market efficiency survives the challenge from the literature on long-term return anomalies. Consistent with the market efficiency hypothesis that the anomalies are chance results, apparent over-reaction to information is about as common as under-reaction.

Examining the Relationship between Substance Use and Test Anxiety among Students in a Public University in Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes
Substance use and test anxiety are two phenomena critical to the academic achievement and well-being of university students, however, few studies exist examining the relationship between both.
