KPYR: An Efficient Indexing Method

2005 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2005
Motivated by the needs for efficient indexing structures adapted to real applications in video database, we present a new indexing structure named Kpyr. In Kpyr, we use a clustering algorithm to partition the data space into sub-spaces on which we apply Pyramid technique (S. Berchtold, et al., 1998). We thus reduce the search space concerned by a query

Efficient indexing for semantic search

Expert Systems with Applications, 2017
Abstract The increasing performance and wider spread use of automated semantic annotation and entity linking platforms has empowered the possibility of using semantic information in information retrieval. While keyword-based information retrieval techniques have shown impressive performance, the addition of semantic information can increase retrieval

Efficient color histogram indexing

Proceedings of 1st International Conference on Image Processing, 2002
In image retrieval based on color, the weighted distance between color histograms of two images, represented as a quadratic form, may be defined as a match measure. However, this distance measure is computationally expensive (naively O(N/sup 2/) and at best O(N) in the number N of histogram bins) and it operates on high dimensional features (O(N)).

Engineering efficient metric indexes

Pattern Recognition Letters, 2007
We give efficient algorithms and index data structures for range search in general metric spaces. We give a simple methods to make almost any existing algorithm memory adaptive, improving the search the more memory is available. For vector spaces and metric space of strings we show how several distances can be computed in bit-parallelly, in sequential ...

Tabular: Efficiently Building Efficient Indexes

Proceedings of the VLDB Endowment
Concurrent indexes are hard to build by requiring complex, careful yet error-prone processes of design and implementation. As prior work has observed, modeling indexes as transactional tables can largely ease programming. The developer only needs to write single-threaded logic without worrying about concurrency or persistence, which are transparently ...

An Efficient Fingerprint Indexing Scheme

2014
This paper proposes an efficient geometric-based indexing scheme for fingerprints. Unlike other geometric-based indexing schemes, the proposed indexing scheme reduces both memory and computational costs. It has been tested on IITK database containing 2,120 fingerprints of 530 subjects.

Efficient Indexing of 3D Human Motions

Proceedings of the 2021 International Conference on Multimedia Retrieval, 2021
Digitization of human motion using 2D or 3D skeleton representations offers exciting possibilities for many applications but, at the same time, requires scalable content-based retrieval techniques to make such data reusable. Although a lot of research effort focuses on extracting content-preserving motion features, there is a lack of techniques that ...
