Efficient solutions to the braid isotopy problem

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 2008
We describe the most efficient solutions to the word problem of Artin's braid group known so far, i.e., in other words, the most efficient solutions to the braid isotopy problem, including the Dynnikov method, which could be especially suitable for cryptographical applications.

IDENTIFYING THE SET OF SSD-EFFICIENT MIXTURES OF RISKY ALTERNATIVES

open access: yes
Target MOTAD and other direct utility-maximization models provide one way of computing SSD-efficient mixtures. These models are appropriate when the utility function is known and can also be used to identify part of the set of SSD-efficient mixtures even

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Accuracy of Numerical Solution to Dynamic Programming Models

open access: yes
Dynamic programming models with continuous state and control variables are solved approximately using numerical methods in most applications. We develop a method for measuring the accuracy of numerical solution of stochastic dynamic programming models ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Efficient Algorithms for Solution of the Adjoint Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations with Applications

open access: yes, 2006
The complete discrete adjoint equations for an unstructured finite volume compressible Navier-Stokes solver are discussed with respect to the memory and time efficient evaluation of their residuals, and their solution.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Solution-processed Zn2SnO4 electron transporting layer for efficient planar perovskite solar cells

open access: yes, 2018
The development of ternary metal oxide based electron transporting layers (ETLs) opens an alternative composition for constructing perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, a solution processed route to prepare a dense and uniform Zn2SnO4 (ZTO) thin film is
