Solution-Processed in Situ Growth of CuInS2 Nanoparticle Films for Efficient Planar Heterojunction Solar Cells with a Dual Nature of Charge Generation

open access: yes, 2019
A facile solution-processing method featuring the applications of a stable molecular precursor solution and the repetition of spin-coating and annealing for film growth is reported for the in situ growth of CuInS2 nanoparticle films on TiO2/CdS film to ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Solution-Processed MoOx Hole-Transport Layer with F4-TCNQ Modification for Efficient and Stable Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yes, 2019
Besides high quality perovskites, a precisely designed interface is always necessary to achieve top performance perovskite solar cells. However, this inevitably introduces complexity for fabrication, increases cost, and consequently hinders the ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Flux Weakening Strategy Optimization for Five-Phase PM Machine with Concentrated Windings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper applies an Efficient Global Optimization method (EGO) to improve the efficiency, in flux weakening region, of a given 5-phase Permanent Magnet (PM) machine. An optimal control for the four independent currents is thus defined.

All-Solution-Processed Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diodes Based on Double Hole Transport Layers by Hot Spin-Coating with Highly Efficient and Low Turn-On Voltage

open access: yes, 2018
Poly(N,N′-bis(4-butylphenyl)N,N′-bis(phenyl)benzidine) (poly-TPD) and poly(9-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) are both traditional hole transport layers (HTLs) in quantum dot light emitting diodes (QLEDs).

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
