An Empirical Study on Software Test Effort Estimation for Defense Projects

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Effort estimation of software testing plays a vital role in the effective completion of testing. In particular, software test effort estimation in defense projects is not an easy and simple phenomenon, owing to internal and external factors.

Effort Estimates for Vulnerability Discovery Projects

open access: yes2012 45th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2012
Security vulnerabilities continue to be an issue in the software field and new severe vulnerabilities are discovered in software products each month. This paper analyzes estimates from domain experts on the amount of effort required for a penetration tester to find a zero-day vulnerability in a software product.

Multi-objective software effort estimation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 38th International Conference on Software Engineering, 2016
We introduce a bi-objective effort estimation algorithm that combines Confidence Interval Analysis and assessment of Mean Absolute Error. We evaluate our proposed algorithm on three different alternative formulations, baseline comparators and current state-of-the-art effort estimators applied to five real-world datasets from the PROMISE repository ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Estimation of total Effort and Effort Elapsed in Each Step of Software Development Using Optimal Bayesian Belief Network [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Information Technology Management, 2017
Accuracy in estimating the needed effort for software development caused software effort estimation to be a challenging issue. Beside estimation of total effort, determining the effort elapsed in each software development step is very important because ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Software Development and Maintenance Effort Estimation Using Function Points and Simpler Functional Measures

open access: yesSoftware
Functional size measures are widely used for estimating software development effort. After the introduction of Function Points, a few “simplified” measures have been proposed, aiming to make measurement simpler and applicable when fully detailed software

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
