Spontaneous Contact and Social Resilience Following Eruption of Interethnic Violence in Ethnically Mixed Settings

open access: yesConflict Resolution Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Does spontaneous contact between individuals from different ethnonational groups affect their social resilience, specifically their ability to avoid escalation and radicalization following eruptions of ethnic violence? To address this question, we conducted a series of studies in mixed Jewish–Palestinian cities and academic settings.

Hierarchical clustering of clinical and flow cytometry parameters is associated with deterioration in patients with community‐acquired pneumonia in the emergency department: A preliminary study

open access: yesCytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Anticipating the evolution of septic patients with community‐acquired pneumonia (CAP) is challenging for front‐line physicians in the Emergency Department (ED). Prognosis depends mainly on early identification, antibiotics, organ support, but also immune status.

In situ loading of a pore network model for quantitative characterization and visualization of gas seepage in coal rocks

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Fine modeling of a three‐dimensional fracture structure under dynamic loading of coal is carried out. The streamline distribution law of pressure and velocity field in the loading process of the coal specimen is analyzed, the absolute permeability of the coal specimen is calculated, and the feasibility of the pore network model algorithm and finite ...

Study on damage and failure characteristics of loaded gas‐bearing rock–coal–rock combination structures

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The influence of gas on the instability and failure of rock–coal–rock combinations is considered. The damage characteristics of gas‐bearing rock–coal–rock combinations under different confining pressures, axial loading rates, and gas are revealed. A constitutive model for gas‐bearing rock–coal–rock damage considering gas is established.
