Microbial Contaminants Found in Low Egg Passage Rabies Vaccine Used in Nigeria

Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series B, 1993
SummaryBacteriological and mycological examinations (cultural and biochemical characteristics) identified 4 pathogenic organisms as contaminants in 6 out of 7 LEP batch 20 rabies vaccines produced 1990 in Nigeria. Cryptococcus neoformans and Penicillium spp. were isolated from 5 vaccine samples, while one sample additionally also contained Rhizopus and

Dispersion and infectivity of Toxocara canis eggs after passage through chicken intestine

Parasitology Research, 2018
Toxocariasis is an important, but neglected, worldwide zoonosis. It is considered a primarily soil-transmitted disease, but food-borne transmission has been associated with the consumption either of raw or undercooked meat of paratenic hosts, including birds.

Egg Passage of Rodshaped and Coccoid Forms of Helicobacter pylori: Preliminary Studies

Helicobacter, 1996
ABSTRACT Background. We used egg passage of bacteria stored in water to evaluate the culturability of the coccoid form of Helicobacter pylori, as a complement to the results obtained from various animal models. Egg passage was performed, as it is a simple, rapid, and well‐characterized old method by which to culture and evaluate culturability of ...

Rabies induced in a cat by high-egg-passage Flury strain vaccine

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1983
An adult male domestic short-hair cat developed posterior paralysis 22 days after being vaccinated for rabies with a high-egg-passage Flury strain vaccine currently approved for use in cats. A diagnosis of rabies was confirmed by mouse inoculations, and viral typing using a panel of monoclonal antibodies demonstrated that it was vaccine induced.

The Serial Passage of Hodgkin’s Disease Tissue Extract in Chicken Eggs

The Journal of Immunology, 1948

Use of a Fluorescent Brightener for tracing the Passage of Salmonella in Eggs

Nature, 1964
DURING investigations concerning the contamination of eggs by Salmonella, cultural methods for detecting the passage of the organisms through the shell into and beyond the membranes provided little evidence concerning possible sites of entry and subsequent translocation.

Sequential passage of influenza virus in embryonated eggs or tissue culture: Emergence of mutants

Virology, 1980
Abstract The emergence of influenza virus mutants was examined by passage of A/WSN/33 virus in embryonated eggs, in MDBK cells, and in MDCK cells. From a plaque-purified A/WSN/33 virus preparation, four independent clones were derived by 12 plaque-to-plaque passages in MDCK cells.
