Abstract Circadian rhythms are self‐sustained endogenous oscillations that are found in all living organisms. In insects, circadian rhythms control a wide variety of behavioral and physiological processes, including feeding, locomotion, mating, and metabolism.

Oobius Trjapitzin (Hymenoptera, Encyrtidae) species are egg parasitoids that are important for the biological control of some Buprestidae and Cerambycidae (Coleoptera). Two species, O. agrili Zhang & Huang and O.

Host-feeding enhances stability of discrete-time host-parasitoid population dynamic models [PDF]
Discrete-time models are the traditional approach for capturing population dynamics of a host-parasitoid system. Recent work has introduced a semi-discrete framework for obtaining model update functions that connect host-parasitoid population levels from year-to-year.

On a Hyperbolic-Parabolic Parasitoid-Parasite System: Well Posedness and Control [PDF]
We develop a time and space dependent predator-prey model. The predators' equation is a non local hyperbolic balance law, while the diffusion of prey obeys a parabolic equation, so that predators "hunt" for prey, while prey diffuse. A control term allows to describe the use of predators as parasitoids to limit the growth of prey-parasites.

Host Sex Discrimination by an Egg Parasitoid on Brassica Leaves
Egg parasitoids are able to find their hosts by exploiting their chemical footprints as host location cues. In nature, the apolar epicuticular wax layer of plants that consists of several classes of hydrocarbons serves as the substrate that retains these contact kairomones. However, experiments on chemical footprints generally have used filter paper as

Egg Paeasitoids of Dalbulus maidis (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) in Jalisco State, Mexico [PDF]
A survey of eggs parasitoids of the corn leafhopper, Dalbulus maidis (DeLong & Wolcott) was conducted in Jalisco State, Mexico. Samples were collected during the summer of 2008 with sentinel eggs.

Effect of Spiroplasma infection on the mating behavior of Glossina fuscipes fuscipes
Abstract Tsetse flies are insects of significant public health and zoonotic importance as they are the main vectors of African trypanosomes. To date, an effective vaccine is unavailable and efforts to limit the spread of the disease primarily rely on controlling the tsetse populations.

Spatial and Temporal Heterogeneity of Host-Parasitoid Interactions in Lupine Habitat [PDF]
The inhabitants of the bush lupine in coastal California have been the subject of scientific scrutiny in recent years. Observations of a host-parasitoid interaction in the shrub's foliage, in which victims are significantly less motile than their exploiters, record stable spatial patterns in a fairly homogeneous environment.

Stress in dipteran insects mass‐reared for sterile insect technique applications
The connections between biotic and abiotic stress affecting mass‐reared dipteran insects and the associated stress and immunological responses. Numbers indicate the order in which the topics are discussed in this review. Abstract Stress may be viewed as the disturbance of homeostasis of an organism.
