Effects of DDT on eggshell quality and calcium adenosine triphosphatase
Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1977Adult mallard ducks were fed a diet containing 50 ppm DDT for 6 months. Eggs laid during this period were collected and eggshell weight, thickness, and calcium were determined. Chronic ingestion of DDT resulted in production of eggshells that were significantly thinner and lighter than those of controls.

Effects of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) on eggshell quality
Proceedings of the British Society of Animal Science, 2005Using inorganic additives is one suggested approach for improvement of performance or for preventing some disorders and poisoning of farm animals. One of those which use in animal diets is zeolite. There are more than 40 types of natural zeolites, of which one of the commonest is Clinoptilolite.

British Poultry Science, 2004
1. The effect of high temperature on eggshell quality was investigated by measuring the mechanical and material properties of shell and membranes. 2. Heat exposure resulted in a decrease in zootechnical performance and eggshell thickness, increase in egg breakage, and unchanged egg shape index. 3.
