Winds may play a major role in spread of arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses). Arboviruses like epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV), bluetongue virus and bovine ephemeral fever virus (BEFV) frequently cause major outbreaks in Israel with a unique pattern of spread.

In 1992, a virus (DPP2209) isolated from sentinel cattle located at Coastal Plains Research Station, latitude 12 degrees 39'S, longitude 131 degrees 20'E, approximately 60 km east of Darwin, Northern Territory. This virus was identified as a serotype of epizootic haemorrhagic disease (EHD) of deer virus previously undescribed in Australia.

Contamination of Genetically Engineered CHO-cells by Epizootic Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (EHDV)
Biologicals, 1993The characterization of a contaminating virus which was detected in genetically-engineered Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells during the production of biologicals is described in the present paper. Under electron microscopy, the contaminating virus had a morphology resembling that of an orbivirus.

The transmission of multiple serotypes of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) between farmed and free-ranging wildlife is of interest to livestock industries and natural resource agencies. We compared the seroprevalence of EHDV-1, -2, and -6 in wild and farmed white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) herds in Florida, US.

Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) is a Culicoides-transmitted orbivirus that infects domestic and wild ruminants in many parts of the world. Of the eight proposed serotypes, only EHDV-1, 2 and 6 have been reported to be present in the Americas.

Detection of EHDV Antibodies Using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)
Methods in Molecular BiologyEnzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is a relatively inexpensive, rapid, and high-throughput diagnostic tool to detect antibodies raised against epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) in ruminant serum. While the presence of EHDV antibodies only confirms prior exposure to the virus, it does not conclusively determine infection status.

This paper reports a concatemeric RNA in a strain of epizootic haemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) serotype 5. Sequencing showed that the concatemeric RNA contains two identical full-length copies of genome segment 9, arranged in series, which has apparently replaced the monomeric form of the segment.

Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV), isolate 318 (EHDV-318), an untyped virus recovered from a sentinel calf herd at the Khartoum University farm in central Sudan, was characterized using molecular biological techniques. With dot blot hybridization technique, a cDNA probe derived from genome segment 6 of EHDV-2 (Alberta strain) hybridized with ...

Confocal Microscopy of Fluorescently Labeled EHDV-Infected Cell Cultures
The confocal laser scanning microscope allows the visualization of intracellular structures in greater detail than a widefield fluorescence microscope. Immunofluorescence (IF) techniques make use of the inherent ability of antibodies to bind to specific epitopes of specific proteins.Joanna, Wells +2 more
