Disintegrin‐Like and Metalloprotease With Thrombospondin Type 1 Repeat Motifs 13 (ADAMTS13) Activity in 40 Healthy Dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Clinical Pathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background In humans, deficiency of a disintegrin‐like and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type 1 motifs, number 13 (ADAMTS13), a von Willebrand factor (vWF) cleaving protease, is an underlying mechanism for thrombosis. The role of ADAMTS13 in canine thromboembolic disease is largely unknown.

Occurrence of Tick‐Borne Pathogens in Rhipicephalus sanguineus Sensu Lato From Domestic Dogs in Kumasi, Ghana

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Tick‐borne pathogens, transmitted by ticks, infect humans and animals worldwide. The brown dog tick, Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato, is a significant vector of a number of pathogens, including Ehrlichia canis, Rickettsia and Anaplasma species. In Ghana, there is limited information on the pathogens carried by Rh. sanguineus s.l.

A Comprehensive Study of Biohopanoid Production in Alphaproteobacteria: Biosynthetic, Chemotaxonomical, and Geobiological Implications

open access: yesGeobiology, Volume 23, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
ABSTRACT Bacteriohopanepolyol derivatives (BHPDs) and dia‐ and catagenetic products formed from these bacterial membrane modifiers are extensively used as biomarkers in molecular ecological and geoscience studies. Some BHPDs can be assigned to specific phylogenetic bacterial groups. With the vastly increasing availability of complete bacterial genomes,

Co-infections with multiple pathogens in natural populations of Ixodes persulcatus ticks in Mongolia

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2022
Background In Mongolia, the taiga tick Ixodes persulcatus is the major vector of tick-borne pathogens. Knowledge about co-infections of these pathogens in ticks is necessary both for understanding their persistence in nature and for diagnosing and ...

Prevalence of Ehrlichia canis and Hepatozoon canis in sheltered dogs in southern Aburrá Valley, Colombia

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Ciencias Pecuarias, 2022
Background: Bacteria of the Anaplasmataceae family and canine hemoparasitic protozoans transmitted by ticks are common in Colombia due to circulation and biological adaptation of vector Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato (s.l.). Objective: To detect the

CD8+ T cells against extracellular pathogens: more than just a cytotoxic cell

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 103, Issue 10, Page 957-965, November-December 2025.
CD8+ T cells can induce immunopathology or disease tolerance and resistance in infections caused by extracellular pathogens. The secretion of IFNγ by CD8+ T cells can collaborate with IL‐17 for the elimination of extracellular pathogens. In addition, CD8+ T cells can restrict immunopathology through the elimination of APCs.

Preliminary study on the prevalence of endoparasite infections and vector-borne diseases in outdoor dogs in Bulgaria

open access: yesHelminthologia, 2020
The present work was designed to evaluate the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites and some vector-borne pathogens in dogs in Bulgaria. A total of 172 owned dogs, keeping outside, were included in the study. Fecal samples were examined using standard

Wild Hedgehogs and Their Parasitic Ticks Coinfected with Multiple Tick-Borne Pathogens in Jiangsu Province, Eastern China

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
The increasing awareness of emerging tickborne pathogens (TBPs) has inspired much research. In the present study, the coinfections of TBPs both in ticks and their wild hedgehog hosts in Jiangsu province, Eastern China were determined by metagenome next ...
