Degraded Phenalene Metabolites In Eichhornia Crassipes
Natural Product Letters, 1993Abstract Five naphthalenedicarboxylic acids have been isolated from the aquatic plant Eichhornia crassipes. The structures 1–5 have been attributed to their permethyiated derivatives on the basis of their spectroscopic features. A biogenetic correlation to phenalenes is suggested.

Effects on Eichhornia crassipes under Zn stress
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2018Eichhornia crassipes is a macrophyte widely used in phytoremediation, demonstrating a high ability to remove metals from water. The aim of this work was to evaluate its enzymatic detoxification strategies and metal accumulation when it is exposed to different Zn concentrations (0, 2, 4, 6, and 9 ppm) for periods of 24, 48, and 72 h. Zn concentration in

A bioactive benzoindenone from Eichhornia crassipes solms
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 1991Abstract The structure 2,5-dimethoxyl-4-phenyl-benzoindenone (1) has been attributed to a metabolite from Eichhornia crassipes on the basis of its spectroscopic properties. The compound was proved to inhibit the growth of the fungus Candida albicans.

Eichhornia crassipes (water hyacinth).
2021Abstract E. crassipes, a native of South America, is a major freshwater weed in most of the frost-free regions of the world and is generally regarded as the most troublesome aquatic plant (Holm et al., 1997). It has been widely planted as a water ornamental around the world because of its striking flowers. Wherever it has encountered

Cyanide phytoremediation by water hyacinths (Eichhornia crassipes)
Chemosphere, 2007Although cyanide is highly toxic, it is economically attractive for extracting gold from ore bodies containing only a few grams per 1000 kg. Most of the cyanide used in industrial mining is handled without observable devastating consequences, but in informal, small-scale mining, the use is poorly regulated and the waste treatment is insufficient ...

Evapotranspiration of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes)
Journal of Hydrology, 1974Abstract From water balance measurements near the Agricultural Experiment Station at Paramaribo and on the Brokopondo Lake, the evapotranspiration of water hyacinth appeared to be respectively 48% and 44% higher than the free water evaporation. These values are much lower than could be expected based upon values given in the literature.

Aquatic macrophytes and Eichhornia crassipes
1982Munro (1966) defined the shoreline habitats of Lake McIlwaine in terms of the presence or absence of aquatic macrophytes, and the major species of macrophyte where the plants were present. Relatively few areas of the lake shore were free of macrophytes (Fig.

Eichhornia crassipes Genome sequencing and assembly
2023Eichhornia crassipes, commonly known as common water hyacinth, is one of the most notorious weeds that cause severe damage to the economy and natural ecosystems of infested areas. Here, we assembled a chromosome-level genome for E. crassipes.

Dimeric phenalene metabolites from Eichhornia crassipes
Tetrahedron, 1992Ten aromatic metabolites with the phenalene skeleton have been isolated as permethylated derivatives from the ethyl acetate extract of the aquatic plant Eichhornia crassipes. Beside the already described monomeric lachnanthocarpone red dimethyl ether,4,9-dimethoxy-7-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-phenalen-1-ol-O-methyl,4,9- dimethoxy-7-(4′-methoxy-phenyl)-2,3 ...
