This paper provides a method to bound and calculate any eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of n-th order boundary value problems with sign-regular kernels subject to two-point boundary conditions.

Let \(\lambda\) be an eigenvalue of a complex n by n matrix. Denote by m, \(m^*\) the multiplicity of \(\lambda\) as a root of the characteristic and minimal polynomial of the given matrix, respectively. Furthermore denote by \(\hat m\) the geometric multiplicity of \(\lambda\), i.e. the dimension of the corresponding eigenspace of \({\mathbb{C}}^ n\).

An n × n diamond alternating sign matrix (ASM) is a (0, +1, −1)-matrix with ±1 entries alternatingand arranged in a diamond-shaped pattern. The explicit inverse (for n even) or generalized inverse (for nodd) of a diamond ASM is derived.

Rotating Fluorescent Nanodiamond Assemblies With Focused Laguerre–Gaussian Beams
Self‐assembled fluorescent nanodiamond clusters are optically trapped and driven into controlled two‐dimensional rotation with Laguerre–Gaussian beams. With localized optical excitation, optically detected magnetic resonance spectra are collected at defined points along the orbit in a uniform external magnetic field.

Higher Eigenvalues of Graphs [PDF]
We present a general method for proving upper bounds on the eigenvalues of the graph Laplacian. In particular, we show that for any positive integer k, the k^{th} smallest eigenvalue of the Laplacian on a bounded-degree planar graph is O(k/n). This bound is asymptotically tight for every k, as it is easily seen to be achieved for planar grids.
