AN INTERPOLATION THEORY APPROACH TO SHELL EIGENVALUE PROBLEMS

Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 2008
The asymptotic behavior of the smallest eigenvalue in linear shell problems is studied, as the thickness parameter tends to zero. In order to cover the widest range of mid-surface geometry and boundary conditions, an abstract approach has been followed, and the Real Interpolation Theory has been used as main tool. A result concerning the ratio between

A Tandem Queuewith a Movable Server: An Eigenvalue Approach

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 2002
In a tandem queue with Poisson input and exponentially distributed service times at both servers the first server is movable. As soon as it is idle it can move to the second server in order to increase its service rate. The buffer between the two servers is finite. The objective of the paper is to determine the stationary common distribution of the two

Iterative approach for the eigenvalue problems

Pramana, 2011
An approximation method based on the iterative technique is developed within the framework of linear delta expansion (LDE) technique for the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the one-dimensional and three-dimensional realistic physical problems. This technique allows us to obtain the coefficient in the perturbation series for the eigenfunctions and the

EIGENVALUE APPROACH TO COUPLED THERMOELASTICITY

Journal of Thermal Stresses, 1990
Abstract This paper deals with the general problem in axisymmetric and plane strain cases in coupled thermoelasticity by employing the algebraic eigenvalue approach. In this approach, the original structure of the problem is retained and the use of potential function is avoided. Examples of an infinite space and a half-space are presented to illustrate

The bounce and its negative eigenvalue: A new approach

Physical Review D, 1990
We derive an exact expression for the static bounce solution for {lambda}{phi}{sup 4} theory with broken symmetry. We also propose a new approach to compute a nontrivial real contribution to the generating functional around a classical bounce-type solution avoiding problems due to the presence of a negative eigenvalue.

A Variational Approach to Multiparameter Eigenvalue Problems for Matrices

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1977
The variational theory of eigenvalues and eigenvectors is extended to the multiparameter problem $(T_r + \sum_{s = 1}^k {\lambda _s V_{rs} } )x_r = 0$, $r = 1, \cdots ,k$ where $T_r $ and $V_{rs} $...
