A New Approach to Sparse Matrix Eigenvalues

Proceedings. The First IEEE Regional Conference on Aerospace Control Systems,, 2005
A new approach to the eigenvalue problem of large sparse symmetric matrices is developed in this paper. It is based on scaling and translating the matrix such that it can be regarded as the cosine of another symmetric positive definite matrix. FFT is used to obtain the different eigenvalues. To compute all the n eigenvalues and eigenvectors, where n is

Root locus approach in variable eigenvalues control

Proceedings of 2011 International Conference on Electronic & Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology, 2011
This paper proposed a root locus approach for variable eigenvalues control (VEC) on the foundation of the step analysis of variable eigenvalues control. It can depict the root locus of three dimensions surface with the aid of computer aided design tools to support the design of VEC systems.

Eigenvalue Approach for Computing the Reliability of Markov Systems

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1978
This paper solves the computation of the reliability of Markov systems. The solution is especially useful for systems where the number of states is large. Not only is the mean time-to-failure computed but an analytic expression is given for the probability of the system's being in a certain state as a function of time.

Homotopy approach for random eigenvalue problem

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2017
AbstractA novel approach, referred to as the homotopy stochastic finite element method, is proposed to solve the eigenvalue problem of a structure associated with some amount of uncertainty based on the homotopy analysis method. For this approach, an infinite multivariate series of the involved random variables is proposed to express the random ...

A generalized eigenvalue perturbation approach to coherency

Proceedings of International Conference on Control Applications, 1995
It has long been recognized that the presence of weak interconnections between areas within an electric power system can give rise to low frequency, lightly damped modes representing undesirable electromechanical oscillations between generating units.

Reconstruction with Noisy Data: An Approach via Eigenvalue Optimization

SIAM Journal on Optimization, 1998
The paper considers the problem of restoration of a blurred image from a finite number of measurements via the Fisher's smoothing functional \(I= \int_\Omega|\nabla u|^2 u^{-1}dx\). It is shown that by means of the duality technique the problem can be reduced to the eigenvalue optimization for an elliptic operator.
