Mentors and sponsors: Making a difference for racially and culturally minoritised academics in Australian universities

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
Abstract Mentorship and sponsorships play a significant role in faculty experiences, career trajectories, well‐being and academic success in higher education. In this study, 23 racially and culturally minoritised (RACM) academics were interviewed about their experiences working in Australian universities, and all spoke about the key importance of their

Development of an Automated Workflow for Screening the Assembly and Host–Guest Behavior of Metal‐Organic Cages Towards Accelerated Discovery

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An automated experimental workflow to accelerate the discovery of metal‐organic cages (MOCs), which is often hindered by slow, manual approaches, has been developed. Automation of the synthesis, characterization, and analysis, is supported by computational modelling to rationalize the experimental outcomes, and development of a host–guest assay ...

SCD‐plus features and AD biomarkers in cognitively unimpaired samples: A meta‐analytic approach for nine cohort studies

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, EarlyView.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Specific features of subjective cognitive decline (SCD‐plus) have been proposed to indicate an increased risk of preclinical Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, few studies have examined how these features relate to AD biomarkers in cognitively unimpaired (CU) older adults. METHODS Meta‐analyses were performed using cross‐sectional

Processing‐induced reduction in dianthrones content and toxicity of Polygonum multiflorum: Insights from ultra‐high performance liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometry analysis and toxicological assessment

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In this study, we conducted measurements to determine the content of dianthrones in Polygoni Multiflori Radix (PMR) and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Praeparata (PMRP) samples from different stages of processing. Furthermore, we evaluated their hepatotoxicity using the human hepatocyte cell line L02 and Zebrafish embryos.

A Lewis Acid Stabilized Ketenimine in an Unusual Variant of the Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 67, December 1, 2022., 2022
By the action of a strong Lewis acid, isomerization of the tricyanomethane to the ketenimine, HN=C=C(CN)2, is triggered, which in turn directly attacks an aromatic species in an electrophilic aromatic substitution. Abstract Electrophilic aromatic substitution (EAS) can provide a straightforward approach to the efficient synthesis of functionalized ...

Advanced Contactless Bioassembly Approaches: Leveraging Sound, Optical, and Magnetic Fields

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This review explores innovative contactless bioassembly techniques driven by sound, light, and magnetic fields, which enable the precise organization of cells, biomaterials, and bioactive substances into complex 3D structures. These technologies, crucial for in vitro modeling and regenerative medicine, are examined in detail, highlighting their ...

Einstein-Aether Theory With and Without Einstein

open access: yes, 2010
The exact static spherically symmetric solutions for pure-aether theory and Einstein-aether theory are presented. It is shown that both theories can deliver the Schwarzschild metric, but only the Einstein-aether theory contains solutions with "almost-Schwarzschild" metrics that satisfy Einstein's experiments.

Highly Loaded Reactive Oxygen Species–Responsive Theranostic Lenvatinib‐Prodrug Nanoparticles Produced by Dispersion Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
A kinase inhibitor prodrug monomer is designed with a polymerizable imidazole moiety, enabling its copolymerization with imidazole into particles containing up to 90 wt% prodrug. These particles also exhibit activity for photoacoustic imaging. Upon exposure to reactive oxygen species, the promoiety undergoes scission, releasing the native kinase ...

Localized and Extended Phases in Square Moiré Patterns

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, EarlyView.
Rotated superimposed lattices in two dimensions, the termed moiré patterns, represent a clear example of how the structure affects the physical properties of a particle moving on it. A robust numerical treatment of continuous and discrete models leads to confirm that while localized states result from angles that produce non‐commensurable lattices ...
