EIT Observed Hypoxemia Caused by V/Q Mismatch During One‐Lung Ventilation With Indocyanine Green Inhalation: A Report of Two Cases

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
In this report, we present two cases monitored using Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT), where individual differences in pulmonary blood flow redistribution contributed to hypoxemia. This phenomenon was further exacerbated in the lateral decubitus position with the ventilated lung in the upper position.

EIT-Based Fabric Pressure Sensing [PDF]

open access: yesComputational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine, 2013
This paper presents EIT-based fabric sensors that aim to provide a pressure mapping using the current carrying and voltage sensing electrodes attached to the boundary of the fabric patch. Pressure-induced shape change over the sensor area makes a change in the conductivity distribution which can be conveyed to the change of boundary current-voltage ...

Global Inhomogeneity Index Evaluation of a DCT-based EIT Lung Imaging

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2020
Purpose: To evaluate a novel structural-functional DCT-based EIT lung imaging method against the classical EIT reconstruction. Method: Taken retrospectively from a former study, EIT data was evaluated using both reconstruction methods.

A Versatile High-Permittivity Phantom for EIT [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2008
Phantoms are frequently used in medical imaging systems to test hardware, reconstruction algorithms, and the interpretation of data. This report describes and characterizes the use of powdered graphite as a means of adding a significant reactive component or permittivity to useful phantom media for electrical impedance imaging.

Mixing and Interpenetration in a Three-Dimensional Buoyancy-Driven Flow of Two Immiscible Liquids: A GPU Based LBM Approach

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2021
The Buoyancy-driven flow of two immiscible liquids having varying density and viscosity is studied in a three-dimensional inclined confined channel. Initially, the heavier/lighter liquids occupy the upper/lower parts of the channel, respectively, which ...

A practical guide to electromagnetically induced transparency in atomic vapor

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
This tutorial introduces the theoretical and experimental basics of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in thermal alkali vapors. We first give a brief phenomenological description of EIT in simple three-level systems of stationary atoms and ...

Metal Particle Detection by Integration of a Generative Adversarial Network and Electrical Impedance Tomography (GAN-EIT) for a Wet-Type Gravity Vibration Separator

open access: yesSensors, 2023
The minor copper (Cu) particles among major aluminum (Al) particles have been detected by means of an integration of a generative adversarial network and electrical impedance tomography (GAN-EIT) for a wet-type gravity vibration separator (WGS).

Performance enhancement of recycled HDPE reinforced with granite micro particles for sustainable low-impact body armor systems

open access: yesDiscover Materials
Composite materials with a polymer matrix are extensively utilized in body armor systems, with particular emphasis on the matrix phase. This study optimizes the performance of recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) by reinforcing it with waste granite

On the Origins of Solar EIT Waves

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2005
Abstract : Approximately half of the large-scale coronal waves identified in images obtained by the Extreme-Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory from 1997 March to 1998 June were associated with small solar flares with soft X-ray intensities below C class.
