On the botanical history and nomenclature of the New World genus Piscidia (Fabaceae)

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Piscidia L. (Fabaceae) is a New World genus with nine recognized taxa (seven species and two varieties). The previous nomenclatural revisions, made in 1910 and in 1969, are revisited here. The names Derris grandifolia Heyde & Lux ex Donn.Sm. and P. cubensis Urb. required step II lectotypifications, with an epitype for the latter name.

Indian and African monsoons: Trajectories and interactions

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The catch basin of marine air particles of the Indian monsoon is the tropical Indian ocean, whilst that of the African monsoon is the east tropical Atlantic. However, the oscillations induced by the monsoonal interactions favour particle exchange between the two basins. These transitions are abrupt in the presence of stochastic resonance. The monsoonal

On the role of onshore geostrophic flow on larval retention in a permanent upwelling zone along north-central Chile

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The Humboldt Archipelago (HAp), located off north-central Chile (~28° - 33° S) is one of the most productive marine zones of the Humboldt Current System (HCS).

Satellite Observations of Typhoon-Induced Sea Surface Temperature Variability in the Upwelling Region off Northeastern Taiwan

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Typhoon-induced cooling in the cold dome region off northeastern Taiwan has a major influence on ocean biogeochemistry. It has previously been studied using numerical models and hydrographic observations.

Monsoon Effects on Chlorophyll-a, Sea Surface Temperature, and Ekman Dynamics Variability along the Southern Coast of Lesser Sunda Islands and Its Relation to ENSO and IOD Based on Satellite Observations

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The Asian–Australian Monsoon (AAM), the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) have been known to induce variability in ocean surface characteristics along the southern coast of Lesser Sunda Island (LSI). However, previous

Integrating multimodal data and machine learning for entrepreneurship research

open access: yesStrategic Entrepreneurship Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Extant research in neuroscience suggests that human perception is multimodal in nature—we model the world integrating diverse data sources such as sound, images, taste, and smell. Working in a dynamic environment, entrepreneurs are expected to draw on multimodal inputs in their decision making.

An improved phylogeny and revised taxonomy of Catillariaceae (Lecanoromycetes, Ascomycota)

open access: yesTAXON, EarlyView.
Abstract The boundaries of the family Catillariaceae have largely remained untested through phylogenetic methods. Recent studies have led to the transfer of several genera previously classified in Catillariaceae to the newly described family Leprocaulaceae. Despite these changes, the distinction between Catillariaceae, Leprocaulaceae, and Catinariaceae

Study of the effects of Ekman dynamics in the bottom boundary layer on the Black Sea continental slope

open access: yesRussian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2020
A possible ventilation mechanism of the aerobic zone in the Black Sea may exist, caused by a descent of oxygen-containing water down the bottom slope in the Ekman boundary layer.

Phylogeny, species delimitation and machine learning bridge the gap between DNA sequences and morphology in the lichen genus Arctomia (Arctomiaceae, Ascomycota)

open access: yesTAXON, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates species boundaries in the lichen genus Arctomia (Arctomiaceae, Ascomycota) using an integrative approach combining molecular phylogenetics, full Bayesian population delimitation, heuristic and model‐based species delimitation, and supervised machine learning applied to morphological data.

Mesoscale and wind-driven intra-annual variability in the East Auckland Current

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Intra-annual variability in the East Auckland Current (EAuC) was studied using a year-long timeseries of in situ and remotely-sensed velocity, temperature and salinity observations.
