Palm/Palm Kernel (Elaeis guineensis)

2020
Palm (Elaeis guineensis) is one of the most important oilseed crops in the world. Crude palm and palm kernel oil are rich in phytonutrients such as sterols, vitamin E, squalene, phospholipids, etc. It is the richest source of tocopherols and carotenoids among all the commonly used vegetable oils.

Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Oil

2019
Palm oil is the largest produced edible oil across the world especially in the southeast region of Asia. Malaysia and Indonesia are the two largest producers of palm oil accounting for 87% of the world production. Being the richest source of biologically active carotenoids (500–800 ppm), red palm oil has been reported to possess various therapeutic ...

Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.)

1989
The oil palm, Elaeis guineensis, (Fig. 1) is a monocotyledonous tree belonging to the coccoid group of palms. It grows over a period of years to a height of up to 15 m over a lifetime of 100 years or more. Its productive commercial life is between 20 and 30 years, after which harvesting becomes increasingly difficult, and yields decline slowly.

Elaeis guineensis var. pisifera

2011
There are two native varieties of oil palm, E. guineensis in West Africa, Dura and Pisifera. Dura is the main variety found in natural groves, and has been the source of palm oil for decades – well before modern methods of oil palm cultivation were introduced to Africa in the second quarter of the twentieth century.

Wild and Advanced Resources of Elaeis guineensis and Elaeis oleifera

2020
The crucial role of genetic resources in agriculture cannot be taken lightly. These resources are required by plant breeders to improve and develop new crop varieties. Most plant commodities including modern varieties descended from an array of wild and improved genetic resources from around the world.

Photosynthesis of Oil Palm ( Elaeis guineensis )

Scientia Horticulturae, 2017
Abstract Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis) plantations cover more than 107,000 km2 in SE-Asia but there is little information on its photosynthetic characteristics. Photosynthesis in seedling, juvenile and adult Oil Palm (6 months, 1–2 y and >5 y old, respectively) were measured using blue-diode Pulse Amplitude Modulation Fluorometry (PAM).

Lipid metabolism in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis and Elaeis oleifera) protoplasts

Plant Science, 1987
Abstract Protoplasts were enzymatically prepared from the mesocarp of two species of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq. and E. oleifera HBK and Cortes) 16–20 weeks after anthesis and from rapidly multiplying embryogenic cultures of E. guineensis. The protoplasts were purified by density gradient centrifugation in 20% (w/v) sucrose.

Somatic Embryogenesis in Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.)

1995
