Wild and Advanced Resources of Elaeis guineensis and Elaeis oleifera

2020
The crucial role of genetic resources in agriculture cannot be taken lightly. These resources are required by plant breeders to improve and develop new crop varieties. Most plant commodities including modern varieties descended from an array of wild and improved genetic resources from around the world.

Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) analysis of palm oil fatty acid composition in an interspecific pseudo-backcross from Elaeis oleifera (H.B.K.) Cortés and oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) [PDF]

open access: yesTree Genetics and Genomes, 2013
We chose an Elaeis interspecific pseudo-backcross of first generation (E. oleifera × E. guineensis) × E. guineensis to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for fatty acid composition of palm oil.

Lipid metabolism in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis and Elaeis oleifera) protoplasts

Plant Science, 1987
Abstract Protoplasts were enzymatically prepared from the mesocarp of two species of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq. and E. oleifera HBK and Cortes) 16–20 weeks after anthesis and from rapidly multiplying embryogenic cultures of E. guineensis. The protoplasts were purified by density gradient centrifugation in 20% (w/v) sucrose.

Photosynthetic activity of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) and interspecific hybrid genotypes (Elaeis oleifera × Elaeis guineensis), and response of hybrids to water deficit

Scientia Horticulturae, 2021
Abstract Climate change raises significant challenges for oil palm performance, as its physiology can be differentially affected by water deficit depending on genotype. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to assess the leaf gas exchange and photochemical activity in oil palm seedlings of two genotypes of Elaeis guineensis (G) and four ...

IRHO Elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis interspecific hybrid program

Revista Palmas, 1993

Evaluation of Artificial Pollination in the Hybrid Material OxG (Elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis)

Revista Palmas, 2020

Hybrid palm oil (Elaeis oleifera ×Elaeis guineensis) supplementation improves plasma antioxidant capacity in humans

European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, 2016
Hybrid palm oil obtained from interspecific hybrid Elaeis oleifera × Elaeis guineensis palm (HPO) has been recently proved to have a favorable impact on human plasma lipids related to cardiovascular disease risk factors. In the present work, we describe for the first time, the functional effect of crude HPO supplementation on human antioxidant plasma ...

Evaluation of the behaviour of elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis hybrids in Guaicaramo Plantation

Revista Palmas, 2004

Crude palm oil from interspecific hybrid Elaeis oleifera×Elaeis guineensis: Fatty acid regiodistribution and molecular species of glycerides

Food Chemistry, 2013
The composition and structure of triacylglycerols (TAGs) and partial glycerides of crude palm oil obtained from interspecific hybrid Elaeis oleifera×Elaeis guineensis, grown in Colombia, were fully characterised and compared to data obtained by analysing crude African palm oil.
