Wild and Advanced Resources of Elaeis guineensis and Elaeis oleifera
Compendium of Plant Genomes, 2020The crucial role of genetic resources in agriculture cannot be taken lightly. These resources are required by plant breeders to improve and develop new crop varieties. Most plant commodities including modern varieties descended from an array of wild and improved genetic resources from around the world.

Elaeis oleifera × Elaeis guineensis Interspecific Hybrid Improvement
2017This chapter examines in more detail three focused Elaeis oleifera (EO) and EO × Elaeis guineensis (EG) or OG breeding and cloning programs in Cirad, ASD Costa Rica, and United Plantations, Malaysia, and reflects on the breeding progress made in this direction and the future prospects of such work.

Cultivars from crossings between Elaeis oleífera x Elaeis guineensis (OxG hybrids) have proven to have partial resistance to Bud Rot (BR), the most challenging disease for the Colombian palm oil agroindustry. Therefore, OxG hybrids were planted in areas that have experienced BR outbreaks since 2007.

Lipid metabolism in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis and Elaeis oleifera) protoplasts
Plant Science, 1987Abstract Protoplasts were enzymatically prepared from the mesocarp of two species of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq. and E. oleifera HBK and Cortes) 16–20 weeks after anthesis and from rapidly multiplying embryogenic cultures of E. guineensis. The protoplasts were purified by density gradient centrifugation in 20% (w/v) sucrose.

Abstract Climate change raises significant challenges for oil palm performance, as its physiology can be differentially affected by water deficit depending on genotype. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to assess the leaf gas exchange and photochemical activity in oil palm seedlings of two genotypes of Elaeis guineensis (G) and four ...

Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) analysis of palm oil fatty acid composition in an interspecific pseudo-backcross from Elaeis oleifera (H.B.K.) Cortés and oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) [PDF]
We chose an Elaeis interspecific pseudo-backcross of first generation (E. oleifera × E. guineensis) × E. guineensis to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for fatty acid composition of palm oil.

IRHO Elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis interspecific hybrid program
