Circular Dichroism of Elapidae Protein Toxins

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1980
The effect of temperature variation on the circular dichroic spectra of four Elapid snake toxins (one short neurotoxin, two long neurotoxins and one cytotoxin) was determined and the results compared. The three neurotoxins have in common a delicately balanced conformation which can be perturbed independently of the predominant secondary structuring ...

Phylogenetic relationships within laticaudine sea snakes (Elapidae)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2011
The sea snake subfamily Laticaudinae consists of a single genus with eight named species, based on morphological characters. We used microsatellite and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) data to clarify the adaptive radiation of these oviparous sea snakes in the South Pacific, with special reference to New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

Molecular evolution of toxin genes in Elapidae snakes

Molecular Diversity, 2006
The venom of the sea krait, Laticauda semifasciata, consists primarily of two toxic proteins, phospholipase A(2) (PLA(2)) and a three-finger-structure toxin. We have cloned both toxic protein genes, including the upstream region. PLA(2) genes contain three types of inserted sequences: an AG-rich region, a chicken repeat 1-like long interspersed ...

Taxonomy of the Micrurus spixii species complex (Serpentes, Elapidae)

Zootaxa, 2019
Historically, the Micrurus spixii species complex comprises four subspecies (M. s. spixii, M. s. martiusi, M. s. obscurus, and M. s. princeps), however, recently, some authors have considered only two full species (M. spixii and M. obscurus). In this paper, we report data on meristic, morphometric, color pattern in life and after preservation, cranial ...
