Elastic‐plastic response spectra for different hysteretic rules

Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 1988
AbstractThe general features of elastic‐plastic response spectra for several accelerograms that are widely used for the design buildings in Japan were studied in terms of the effects of the different hysteretic models used in the analyses. Lare fluctuations existed in the spectra for both input ground motion and the different models.

Dynamic response of elastic-plastic ideal sandwich beams

Acta Mechanica Sinica, 1992
The dynamic response of elastic-plastic ideal sandwich beams is investigated. The plastic deformation is interpreted as a kind of general loads in the elastic beams, while the moving interfaces between elastic and plastic regions are treated as external restraint conditions.

Impact Response of Elastic and Elastic-Plastic Sandwich Beams

Earth & Space 2006, 2006
An original model for impact analysis of elastic-plastic sandwich beams is presented, and the effect of sandwich damping is uniquely introduced in the analysis by considering the gradient of beam compliance. By incorporating the compliance (or stiffness) and compliance gradient of the sandwich beams to the equation of motion of the projectile, the ...

On the elastic–plastic response of hemitropic Cosserat solids

Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids
A model for the elastic–plastic response of solids is formulated on the basis of the concept of a materially uniform Cosserat continuum. Plastic deformation and rotation tensors are defined in terms of invertible mappings of a local archetypal state, encoding the constitutive response of the material, to a neighborhood of a material point in an ...

ELASTIC-PLASTIC RESPONSE OF A SLAB TO A HEAT PULSE

1963
Abstract : The objective of the present study is to establish thermodynamically valid, non-isothermal stress strain relations for the elastic-plastic range, and to obtain solutions of typical one-dimensional problems involving unsteady temperatures. In the entropy balance equation and the expression for production of internal entropy are consider the ...

Elastic—plastic response of a circular hole to repeated loading

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1989
AbstractA closed‐form analysis for elastic—plastic response of a circular hole in an infinite Mohr—Coulomb medium under axisymmetric loading shows the effect of repeated loading on the stress and displacement fields around the hole. Examples show how repeat‐load closure increment is affected by working load, internal pressure, material compressive ...

Dynamic response of elastic-plastic beams with axial constraints

International Journal of Impact Engineering, 1994
Summary Dynamic response of axially restrained beams under transverse impulsive loading is discussed. The material of the beam is elastic-plastic with linear strain-hardening. The ends of the beam are clamped against end rotations and axial displacements. The equations of motion are integrated by the method of finite differences.

Elastic-plastic seismic response analyses of structures supporting steam generators

Computers & Structures, 1981
Abstract Three dimensional elastic-plastic seismic response analysis of structures supporting steam generators is carried out. The structural system is idealized as a finite element model composed of elastic beam elements and partially of non-linear spring elements. In the equation of motion the nonlinear restoring force term is divided into a linear
